LED headlamp for yer head?
I am looking for what I thought was something simple. As is often the case, I was wrong.
![]() I went to Amazon and searched for LED headband and saw some things that looked like they were for every purpose but what I want. I was a simple headband that has a LED lamp on it to illuminate what I am working on. For use on car projects or whatever project I am doing. I don't need one for miners or spelunkers with HUGE flashlights and crazy candlepower. Something that runs a CR123 or maybe a couple of AAA batteries. Something lightweight and comfortable. Any suggestions?

easy.
Zebralight. i have the H53w-AA or something like that. it runs on a single AA, and the light last forever. it is the soft white light..and i can read a map with it..and hike out in the dark. it doesnt blow out my eyeballs, so i can use it to work on things. it is dim able..so i can turn it down low and use it to hike out on a dark trail. i take a twist out of the cap as insurance against it turning on accidentally in my pack. the only think i hate is the camo strap. i hate how everything seems to be some type of camo. finding it in a dark pack is/can be challenging. drop it in the grass? i hope it's on.

For a cheap one 10$ Cree. For a better one Black diamond or Coast...You'll use it more than you think

Vash is right about the Zebra light. They are not your typical 10 dollar lights, but its worth its weight in gold when it comes to head lamps. there are choices on beam spread. Most out there have a somewhat narrow beam for throw, or see distances. All my head lamps are wide beam spread so I have much more usable light out of this little guy. Its super light and comfortable.

Thanks guys. That is the input I wanted.
That Zebra light is not some cheapo POS and looks like it is down right handy. It looks like a winner.

it takes 3 AAA batteries. which is what i didnt like. it made it too heavy, so it bobbed on my head. i replaced it with a Black Diamond (the SPOT i think), and it failed..how? any amount of jostling in my pack would turn it on. i would dig in my pack and find it glowing..for who knows how long? that could be disasterous on a long 10 day hike. it got downgraded to my truck headlamp. my Petzls are now failing..they burn batteries so fast. i've jogged with my Zebralight. it is light, so i dont feel it, even with my club footed jogging style. i dont feel it bouncing on my forehead.

I just ordered the Zebra light. Thanks. That is what I wanted, not the $10 disposable type. Something that will last many years is what I wanted.

I have a Princeton Tech: Sync | Princeton Tec
I know you have already ordered a Zebra but I wanted to put the PT out there. I poo-pooed these things until my son bought one. F'ing the best thing in the tool box now. I was chasing a ground fault in one of my small tractors yesterday and combined with a shop light, there was complete coverage and both hands were free. The red LED is great for hunting as well. F'ing great capability.

I use it on the boat, usually scurrying to find the right chart while its dark and panic is ensuing. Really useful tools. I have 3-4, dont remember paying more than $15 for one, all work great. |
