I'd think the danger is in:
1). someone leaning forward on the tips of their feet,
2). that device twists sideways and slips out of lock, they fall and break something,
3). meanwhile it gouges an arc in the paint of the B-pillar.

Maybe you could make the hook length fatter and shorter, or much longer, the foot pad wider, and a large rubberized pad to sit against the door jam?
There doesn't seem to be an easy way of an arm locking it to the jam or making foldable/storeable.

good to know, perhaps include that in the documentation, i'm sure many others will worry about that in the context of that product.

They have some of the facts in their FAQs on the Kickstarter-page.

I'm surprised nobody has started 3d printing these yet. Polycarbonate would easily hold the weight.

Has he given thought to quantity sales or distributorships? I'd be very interested in discussing the possibilities. I'll PM my contact info.

Update to this amazing story.

The product is now being licensed and sold by Right Line Gear;

Moki Door Step| Vehicle Step Up| Car Step Up

Tune into Shark Tank January 6. I have zero knowledge of the outcome, but exciting nonetheless! Shark Tank is like Fight Club :--)

It may be Fight Club, but it's guaranteed to boost his sales. Even the businesses that don't get a deal usually see a huge spike in sales after the show.

Congrats to him!

Good deal

So the hook pulls away from that door catch, not down.

I'de be more worried aboutit pulling the door catch out from the door jamb, or denting the spot where the fulcrum is.

Do a free body diagram and report back.

Nice product. I drive a PU and washing the top is difficult. Now I'm going out to the garage and welding up a pair. :D

PS, I also have one of those steps that hang on a tire. But it's the top of the cab that is left hard to reach.

Clever and practical.
I love to see young people take a chance, get off the sidelines, and startup something.
A 'tip of the hat' to them and a proud papa !

I hope they make enough money to fund more adventures for them...

Their 'goal' was $2000. It's over $110,000.

Also if you read the comments section people are concerned about where their items are — no deliveries for a couple months and no response. That's of today. It could change tomorrow.

Have to say, this is good. Can't wait to see what Vipergrün Jr. comes up with next.
