Both 586 & 686 originally came with the Goncalo target wood grips. Lots of people then switched them out?
I like the early 686's and have a pinned and recessed 629 4 inch along with the blued version. I like the pre Mdl 27 especially in 3.5 inch. The 3.5 inch 27 was the FBI gun. But if you are a real affectionado you have got to love the pre war stuff..There is nothing better than the Registered Magnums or Triplelock Targets. The world I tread in is rather esoteric as I like the King Gun Works (of SF) Super conversions that were done in the 30's and 40's..because of their popularity among target shooters Colt came out with the Python and Diamond Back in the 50's. The real rarity is having a pre war Colt Officers Model with a Colt Kings Super conversion in 32 SW next would be having it in 22LR. I have seen one in 32 SW in nearly 40 years and maybe 5 in 22Lr. They are a dream to shoot. Smooth. They were the hot rods of the day. Last edited by tabs; 02-16-2018 at 10:31 PM.. |
