Good one.

I need to revisit John Wayne. This will make baby Jesus cry and something that I don't often admit, but I seldom care for his acting. He has a few films that I like, but I've never considered myself a fan. Now that I'm older, maybe my tastes have changed...

And maybe "Silverado" on the B list?
The later Wayne movies were cashing in on Wayne as a star. The Shootist is the exception.

Silverado expended more ammo without anyone being hit...yahooo. lots of good talent in a fluff piece.

I never cared for Wayne storming the Sands of Malibu acting talents. He had his moments though and my favorite was the Quiet Man.

A "Modern" Western that might make the list is "Bad Day At Black Rock" with Spencer Tracy and a very young James Coburn.

That is a bit of a stretch and to stay within the bounds of a Western.... Great movie though.

Two Western that are high on the list would be

Union.Pacific...Gordon Mcrea, Robert Preston and Barb Stanwick

The Westerner...Cooper and Walter Brennen as Judge Roy Bean..

Then if you like Errol Flynn Dodge City

Barbarosa. Willie Nelson and Gary Busey - 1982. One of the all-time under-rated sleepers of the Western genre. Watch it and believe. Stunning in simplicity of message, purity of form, all set against the background of the beautiful and unforgiving Big Bend country of southwest Texas.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid should be in the Western category. Therefore should be at the top of the list.

Regarding Clint.....always appreciated "Two Mules for Sister Sara" more than some of his others. Interesting storyline for one. Then there's Shirley MacLaine.....for another.....
