Congrats on catching it. Now you won't have to find it dead in a wall somewhere.

That is huge rat (assuming the trap is the size I am familiar with). Keeping it as a pet?

Rats and mice rarely are alone...as they leave a trail for others to follow. Do yourself a favor and reset the trap in the same place after you remove this one.

I'm thinking of that also. I placed some food out to see if it disappears. Note to self - put paper or something under the trap - the rat will leave a mess. Thankfully it was in the garage - I used a pressure washer and citrus cleaner and there are still marks.

I've caught more than one in sticky traps. Some mice will try to hump the ones caught.
Get 'em while its hot.

Put a sticky trap out while visiting a friend. Heard a commotion. The rodent put a rag over the sticky trap. The rodents getting too smart. If that happened at my house I think I would plan to move.

I was wondering if you'd really catch a racoon or possum INSIDE YOUR HOUSE!

Bring it over to Jim's house and let it go.

Good idea. Don't we want the rats that get caught in traps to procreate? Don't kill'em, let'm go. Catch and release.

i had a critter in my attic that wouldn't go near a trap
I sprayed peppermint oil mixed with water and peppermint castile soap in a garden sprayer in the attic and the critter bugged out
the smell will drive them out, and as a nice bonus, your house will smell like a candy cane for a week

I am also seeing this type of footprint and I am a little bit worried about this. I don't like rats and need to solve it as quickly as possible. I will buy rat poison to see it works or not. To get rid of it, I was reading this article: Best Rat Poison 2018(Do It Yourself & Avoid Expert Cost). What do you think it will work or not?

They'll smell for a week or so, and flies if you poison them... Gets messy quick. But it's a sure fire way to kill every last one.
The poison they sell in the stores are mediocre at best as well.

Sticky pads work extremely well, that and other methods. Just don't light them on fire like some kids I know did while in Kuwait....
