Had to repot this wisteria and 5 other plants this past weekend. The original pot it was in was too small and it was falling over from being too top heavy when the winds blew. Everything's fine now after moving it into the biggest planter I have

Looking good, Eric! I love Chinese Wisteria!

I do my share of lashing things down here while they are still in pots.

Such as these two Hurricane Palms......which I hope to plant in the near future. For now they are essentially just huge sails!

We're enjoying our three Palo Verde trees. This was taken about 8 P.M. this evening.

Keep up with trimming those! They look pretty but they snap so easy in a wind storm!

Sorry. Blurry pic of the Flowering Almond bush back in May of this year.
It was stunning for about a week and very happy. I may have to move it.

(yes I cleaned the camera and it takes better pics now GH. thx!)

From September of last year: Yellow tall coreopsis in back, flox, russian sage, roses, butterfly bushes growing wild, mint, beebalm, red Seedum recovering from being move and white fall Clemetis on the fence. Plants are crammed everywhere and not in right spots. The yard produces a lot of insects. Many neighbors have amazing gardens and I'm fortunate to be near,

It's good to have something blooming at all times of the year (early and late).

My potted lemon tree on the back patio has so many lemons on it that one of the branches broke. I tried propping the hanging branches to prevent further breakage. I do have the broken one propped so the crack may graft itself back together. Any chance it will heal itself or should I just prune that broken one off?

I would tie some of that green tape you have there around the broken part to keep it tightly bound to itself. Just propping it isn't going to keep the air out, which the plant cells will react to and close up so they won't be able to heal. We had a peach tree when I grew up that had about three different kinds of peaches grafted onto it.

Our newest rose bloom:

I cannot see the damaged branch in your photos, so hard to say.

If it's just a minor crack, there's a chance, so no harm done letting it sit and see what happens. This time of year is at least favorable for tissue healing.

Even if you cut it off, the plant won't miss a beat. It will simply generate another branch.

Good luck!

Thanks, guys. Maybe I’ll just wrap some tape around the break and see what happens. If that branch starts to fade, I’ll prune it.

Took delivery this morning of a large Bromeliad order from a nursery in S. Florida.

23 different varieties!

123 plants all together.

I will be incorporating display fixtures around the new decking I have been building for some of them. Bromeliads are such unique plants. Lot of variation in color and growth habit. Fairly durable as well.

One of our grocery store bought orchids is finally getting new flowers. Weird and cool plants.

VERY nice, Paul!

One of mine from HD is blooming for the first time. Just bought it 3 weeks ago:

Brassocattleya Yellow Bird

Quote:
Many of this batch will bloom this year or next, though expect a couple of years needed to achieve a big multispike show. This cross tends to produce two good crops of long lasting flowers every year. While young, there may be just a couple blooms to the spike, but as plants get older, they can produce 7 or more as illustrated in our main photo. The color may start out pale or reddish, but within about 14 days, they are vibrant, sunny yellow. Most have quite a few red freckles on the lip, but the density and size varies with each individual plant.

Joe - looks like they were just pruned.

If so - I wonder if it's some kind of response to the pruning work (?)

Sometimes you see sunburn (called photo-oxidation) when plants are pruned and the foliage which previously had been shaded gets a full blast of sun - but yours doesn't look like that, so not sure what it could be.

This is a small cactus garden at a college in Honolulu. The cat in the center of the last photo is about to have it out with a mongoose over a bowl of kibble left by the staff. Don't get between a cat and a mongoose!

This started happening before I did my spring pruning.
Two different type of bushes.
Should I try some general disease spray ir insect and hope for the best?
