He will not spend much if any time in prison. I bet they had an appeal all prepared and will file is as soon as legally possible. He will die before they put him in prison where he belongs.

A strange world. Heros of my youth = criminals of today.

I am not saying he isn't a bad guy. He was convicted. That argument is gone. It is just weird that people who you looked at as role models turn into slime.

I saw B.C. do a stand up routine at the Multnomah County Fair (Portland, OR) in the early 1970's. I was a kid. Easily the funniest comic I have personally seen. He had a charisma about him.

It calls into question one's ability to make personality judgements of others.

I find it all a little unnerving.

Yep. for many years he had the reputation of a real life Doc Huxtable like his character on the TV show. I think I still have some old vinyl albums of his. He was one of the few clean comics. No profanity, no sex jokes. Seemed to be a stand up man. Then the truth came out.

Much like Joe Paterno. I always admired his strength of character and do the right thing image. Then the truth of his protecting sexual abusers just like the Catholic church has done. Just despicable behavior.

So ... let's review:

Award to honor Bill Cosby
September 13, 2003
Bill Cosby will receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 55th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which will air Sept. 21 on Fox.

The award was created last year by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in recognition of Hope's pioneer status in the industry and of his many humanitarian efforts. Oprah Winfrey was the first recipient.

Presidential Medal of Freedom
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an award bestowed by the President of the United States and is—along with the comparable Congressional Gold Medal bestowed by an act of U.S. Congress—the highest civilian award in the United States. It recognizes those individuals who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors".[3] The award is not limited to U.S. citizens and, while it is a civilian award, it can also be awarded to military personnel and worn on the uniform.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — A jury found Bill Cosby guilty Thursday of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home near here 14 years ago, capping the downfall of one of the world’s best-known entertainers, and offering a measure of satisfaction to the dozens of women who for years have accused him of similar assaults against them.

On the second day of its deliberations at the Montgomery County Courthouse in this town northwest of Philadelphia, the jury returned to convict Mr. Cosby of three counts of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand, at the time a Temple University employee he had mentored.

The three counts — penetration with lack of consent, penetration while unconscious, and penetration after administering an intoxicant — are felonies, each punishable by up to 10 years in state prison, though the sentences could be served concurrently.

I'd just state that comics, in a very sweeping generalization, seem to have serious demons lurking within.

The court won't let him die in prison.

Another sorely needed role model.....down the drain.

We grew up with Cosby in the 60's...my Dad had his LP's and would play them on our Capehart console stereo.

He was so good in "I Spy"!

And "The Cosby Show"...what can you say?

All down the toilet.....smh.....

He will be doing his stand up comedy routine before s whole new audience in the big house up the river.

I think they will put him away at least for awhile. His crimes were severe and will do time Pending appeal... Otherwise he might as well have gotten off.

What I had always thought of as being odd was the murder of his son in LA. How could such bad karma be bestowed upon such an upright man? I thought there was more to the man than met the eye, but as it wasn't important I didn't dwell on it and twaddled on through life. So now I think we know.

Damn. I forgot all about him.

Thanks for the update. Now I’ll put his ass right back into the forgotten zone.

Yep. My wife's little brother had roles in two Cosby episodes. He said the same thing, that Cosby was a racist asshat who was banging all the actresses and female stage hands. Nobody believed her brother then...He's doing the "I told You So" tour today.

I'd be curious how he was able to keep the public from knowing what now seems to be an "open secret" for so long?

I've seen some things that seem to imply that NBC executive "fixed" some things for him, but it seems this behavior dates to at least the 70's...

Well, if he still had his CSX 3303 Supersnake Cobra he could try to outrun the law, but ..."The law won" I guess.

I'm sure a lot of people will say, "I never was a fan of his" and I'll be one of them.

geez, if my memory is correct, all the cons came to his defense when he was first " outed" as a serial sexual abuser/ rapist.
Sammy, with his trove of cartoons, was among the loudest to condemn the women...all of them.

Called it a big money grab, by all those women...58 to be exact, even though the statute of limitations was long past.
They liked old Cos, the guy that lectured the black community on how they should behave.

Now, he's trashing the rapist.
About time, there, Spammy.
But I'll bet you were hoping he'd pull an OJ and walk away clean.

My sons are too young to have seen Cosby when he was still performing, so they asked me what it was like to me to see Cosby on trial for such horrible crimes. As I thought about it, I realized what a huge influence he was to young men my age. I grew up watching the cartoon Bill Cosby Show with Fat Albert and the gang, listening to his comedy albums, watching his comedy concerts on HBO, and watching all his TV shows. He was clean, professional, and insanely funny. My friends and I constantly spouted his lines at each other. Many of the expressions I used on my kids came from him. This was the first time they heard that "I brought you into this world, I'll take you out" came from Cosby, as did the chocolate cake story, and a million other sayings that they grew up with. I told them it's hard for them to understand what a clean image he had and how beloved he was to three generations. It's just too sad to contemplate.
