Independent mechanic recommendations
Group,
I just recently relocated to Seattle (Ravenna neighborhood) from Chicago and wanted to get recommendations on any local, independent mechanics for when I need their services. Cars in question are a 1992 Mazda Miata and a 2000 Honda Civic HX. Also if it matters, I work up in Woodinville, so any shops up there or along Lake City Way (522) could also work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Aaron |

Welcome to the PNW. I live in Viewridge, right down the street from you. Try Greg's Japanese Auto. I have used them for years with good results. My Lexus is going in tomorrow morning as a matter of fact for some service.

Aaron,
Welcome to the hood! Scooter and I are both not far from you....he is in Laurelhurst (south of you) I am north of you in Wedgewood. Greg's Japanese is great for everything. If it is something simple you just do not have time to take care of, Salmon's service on the corner of 25th and 65th Chevron station has been reliable and good for many years. Welcome to Seattle. Don.

Thanks for the quick replies!
I have seen the various Greg's Japanese Auto locations around the city. I will keep them in mind. I live right at 77th Ave. and 17th, so I have driven by the Chevron station at 65th Ave. and 25th numerous times already. Thanks again, Aaron |

I go across the lake to Eschen Automotive in Bellevue. They are next to Barrier Porsche.
We used to go to Greg's, but after getting introduced to Eschen by Chris at Chris's German Auto, Gary Eschen and crew have had our Japanese car business ranging from our ex gas guzzling V8 Land Cruiser to my $300 Sentra I bought on Craigslist. I like them as their prices are very reasonable, and for the older cars, they are willing to suggest and source out used parts. When I need an oil change, I can make an appointment, and they will change the oil right away while I wait. I also like shops where I get to know the owner and the crew, and its been the same guys for the 7 years I've been going there. I know its out of the way, but when I have to leave a car there for a day, I just take the bus back to Seattle. There's a Metro stop next to the shop that takes you to the Bellevue Transit Station, get on the 271 across the lake to UW and I take the 43 or 48 up to CapHill.
