I need another collapsible spare for the drivers side rear so I have a matched set on the back under those turbo flares. Should look real gangsta that way.
That outta turn a few heads. Could be a little tail happy though.

I thought that was a no-no: if a rear tire went out, you were supposed to put the front wheel on the rear and the spare on the front, thus minimizing the mismatch in rear tire contact patch and saving the spare from the added stress of being on the drive axle. Just a thought. I might make it out for a burger on Thursday, though the way I've been eating this week I'll have a spare tire of my own before long. Ian. PS I have in my posession a photo of Jeff's car looking scandalously un-dirty - I still hesitate to use the word "clean" - at the exotics show in Redmond last weekend.

I believe the real rationale is that different diameter rear wheels are bad for a limited slip differential because the diff would be slipping continuously.
I know it's what you're supposed to do, but a spare on the front makes the car feel a lot sketchier than a spare on the rear.

O.k., not to toot my own horn, but what Craig told us about this show some time ago is absolutely true. It is so awash in Lambo and Ferrari garage queens that any sort of "real" car - one that is obviously driven - attracts a lot of attention. That, and there simply are no "old" cars there to speak of. There was Craig's car, mine, a really nice '64 Goat, a GT40 replica, and an old Alfa coupe (Guilietta? Ginetta? (spelling?)) SOVREN race car. The rest were showroom new, showroon clean, cookie cutter copies of one another. I never thought one could get "bored" looking at Italian exotics, but they really do all start to look the same after awhile. The way the crowds gathered around the old iron as they were pulling in was pretty darn gratifying. They were obviously ready for anything different, even an old hooligan track rat like mine. Or Craig's.

That glorious GT40
![]() The old Alfa Romeo Whateveritwhas ![]() And some Porsche that turned up looking suspiciously un-dirty ![]() ![]() I was admiring the few 80s Ferraris and Lambo's - hey, I'm gen-X - but the newer cars pretty much faded into the background and there was quite a lot of background. It was fun to check out and apparently that was a particularly good turnout but I wouldn't bother going every weekend.
