I'm glad you all had a good time, and sorry about having to backtrack for a few hours yesterday. At least there wasn't a whole lot of traffic.
No tickets, no breakdowns, and mostly good weather makes it a success as far as I'm concerned.

No problem about the backtracking Graham... those roads were fun enough to do a second time!
Those of us who did the Portland tour in May remember the fun forestry road that led to a dead end due to still being snowed in. I imagine there are lots of forestry roads in Washington that aren't open yet due to snow. And my guess (from the lack of traffic on Hwy 20), is that leaving Winthrop as late as we did gave us less traffic to deal with. I've never had so much fun on Hwy 20! Thanks for a fun weekend everyone, and especially Graham for organizing. ![]() 1252 miles/ 2014km total trip distance for me. i know some Porsche owners who do that in a year rather than a weekend! I suppose I should chime in here, especially since I had to bail half way through Sunday so I have no real excuse...
Thanks Graham for organizing this event. I met lots of new people from WA and reconnected with some that I haven't seen since the last CanAm. Again thanks for all your hard work and leading us to some great driving roads. It seems that I get the long distance award again, this year. I'm at about 3200 km (~1900 miles) since last Thursday when I left home and I haven't even driven my car for two days. I'm in Portland now, and should be home by Friday night. Anyway, enough with the chit chat. Here's a couple pics: Two of the mini-caravan from Bellingham to Bellevue on Friday night, Al and Charlie. ![]() ![]() Scooter's '65/'66 was one of my favourites. Hot looking long hood... ![]() Near Leavenworth, the river was pretty swollen with spring runoff. White water kayaking anybody?

And a few more...
Another great outlaw. The only 356 of the bunch. Sweet... ![]() Anyone up for some rally action? ![]() Some road kill on Jodie's car. ![]() A little break on a beautiful morning somewhere between Omak and Oroville.

Thanks again Graham for leading a great tour! I had to take off early Monday morning to get back to Seattle in time for a belated Father's Day gathering with dad since I missed that on Sunday. I'll post up my pictures and videos soon!
![]() On another note, I had a BLAST with you guys and thank you guys for making this one of my best birthdays ever! Jason |

hey guys - i just wanted to thank Graham, of course, for putting together such a smooth running event, which really did focus on the driving, lot's of amazing roads, i could have done one more day!!! Graham, you have the perfect demeanor for this type of event! thanks for charting a steady course!
i did 1,049 miles, round trip to and from seattle - sorry that i bailed out near concolly, but i started to get nervous about my arrive at home time (i got home by 5pm) - what time did you guys split up west of the US 20 pass? thanks to everyone with the gracious 356 remarks and questions - sorry for neurotically keeping the 356 running, but the starter/push start problem had me really freaked out so far from home! i had many questions about what this 356 is, including mechanicals - to try to briefly answer: it's a '62 356B T-6 notchback coupe, essentially a 356B cabriolet body, with a factory hardtop welded on - Porsche made about 697 (2nd rarest 356 body style variant, behind '62 twin grill roadster), and this model has not been well received by the auto press and 356 enthusiasts - i find the younger the Porsche fan, the more they like the notchback! i had quite a time keeping up with you guys, but with the newly built engine ('62 S-90 case and heads (large intake, sodium exhaust, titanium retainers), 1720 cc 9.3:1 Shasta pistons, Neutek SX-1 cam, Porsche lightened crank, lightened flywheel, Weber 40 IDF's, aluminum oil cooler, NLA sport exhaust - 7,000 redline) it was much easier than two years ago! the brakes are stock aluminum finned drums, vent drilled backs, front cooling hoses, and the suspension is built to SOVREN specs with decambered front spindles, 19mm weltmeister front sway bar, koni's, and a rear Skirmants sport bar (to keep the rear wheels from retracting!) again, a bunch of work to keep you guys in view! i'm really looking forwards to next year's event, and i hope to have my 914 2.0 ready to go, with a fresh engine rebuild i hope to see you guys soon - thanks again for such a great time - cheers, brad k in seattle

Fantastic tour
Thanks for organizing the awesome trip, Graham! Had a great time meeting new people and seeing others again.
My real camera was broken, so all I had was my phone, which fortunately has a 7MP camera, so what few photos I took came out ok. I put them on flickr, along with those I've collected from other posts. Let me know if you don't want your photos in my photostream, and I'll remove them. CanAm June 2010 - a set on Flickr Again, thanks for letting me come along, hope I didn't tarnish too many Porsche-only photos and moments with the inexplicable presence of a Honda! ![]() Until next time, ![]() --Ian |

Sunday route was best, IMHO, thanks Graham.
![]() 993 is becoming very addictive: Portland, Nakusp, Omak..................... ![]() Canadian Rockies next: Revelstoke-Rogers Pass-Golden-Field-Lake Louise-Banff.............and one night in Radium Hot Springs. ![]() June-July is nice because there is still lots of snow on top of the mountains looking majestic and the roads are good. Great tour and thanks to all! 3 days and just over a 1000 miles traveled.
I didn't spend as much time behind the camera as usual, however here are a few pics: CanAm Porsche Tour 2011 - a set on Flickr

CanAm 2010 pictures on Picasa
All the CanAm photos are now in one folder on Picasa made public thinking this is not a problem.
All photos accept one is geotag (Latitude/Longitude) and downloads included the geotag in the Exif data which I discovered Picasa does not. Flickr download strip out most of the Exif data like Artist/Creator. Viewing options 1) View All 2) Clicking through the photos 3) View Map with photo locations 4) Slideshow 5) download 1600x1200 which includes some of the Exif data. https://picasaweb.google.com/BrentSeattle/2011CanAm18Thru20?authkey=Gv1sRgCPSb0b_UgrmkNA&fea t=directlink Last edited by Brent Seattle; 06-29-2011 at 04:12 PM.. |

That map view is pretty cool. Too bad you can't overlay the route as well.

Yes it would be cool if the map route and photo geotag were together. I tried day02 GPS tracks on Google earth but with over 10,000 GPS entries Google Earth never completed. I did a 1,600 GPS tracks I had and this worked on Google Earth software.
