I recently bought the reinforcement plates for the rear shock mount. The drivers side rear is almost ripped completely out/passenger side is fine but i figured i would rather be safe than sorry. My question is..... are the plates an exact fit? what would i need to do to put them on properly?
Please reply with detailed instructions. ![]()

That entire upper shock tower needs to be cut out and replaced. When I did mine, I drilled out the spot welds and knocked it out. The upper mount reinforcement goes in on top. It could be welded but does not need to be.
From when I did mine: ![]() ![]() ![]() The new parts:

I had to weld the reinforcement plates into my 97 M3. Mine were in slightly better shape than yours, and although I did purchase new sheet metal like GG above, I didn't end up using it. Just sandwich it all together with some appropriate sized bolts and weld around the perimeter of the plate.
YMMV.... |
