I just bought this. Help!!!

Hi 356ers...

I just bought this ‘63 356B and about to start a total restoration.

I have all the books, but found that forums are a great source of help

Today I put the hazmat suit on and my Army respirator and dug all the crap out the car. It had been a mouse house for some years and also a mouse toilet, so fired up the Karcher and sucked it all out. Even something as basic as that made a huge difference.

The interior, once it had been emptied was better than I imagined.

One interesting feature was someone had deliver defaced the engine number. I can only assume that it had been stolen at some stage, but any other suggestions?

Looks like a decent project. A lot of work, but do-able.

Go to Porsche abc GT, the Porsche Blog & Forum for help. Justin, Tom, Phil, John, and a host of others will have the answers (correct answers!) to all your questions. And saints Bruce and Jack will look over your shoulder the whole time.

Rockers look rough. Does the engine turnover by hand or is it locked up?

It’s actually turning quite well. I think I’ve been very lucky in that it was really dirty, but the oil came out quite clean too.

The rest of the underside is quite good too. It’s obvious that the floors have been replaced, but welded badly. The regular rotting points like the exhausted and rubber is all buggered, but nothing that I wasn’t planning on replacing anyway. It could have been so much worse.

I have a 63B in much worse shape than yours. ��.......actually more like ��. Good luck with your project. Doesn’t look too bad.

Talked to the guy that bought this car. He said it is almost done and looks great now.
