356C Voltage - some w/ 12V?

I was told that some of the later C's came new with 12V, concurrent with the 'new' 911.

Does anyone know?

I did a search, but found nothing substantial (can't search for 12V, but did 12 Volt).

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure they did. Call Tom Conway at Carquip in Boulder on Monday. He knows those cars inside out. 303-440-1343.

My 64 came with 6V I believe it was still an option, it could be in late 65. your best is to post in the 356 registry.

My 65 came from the factory with 12V. Along with a very rare inside/outside temp gauge mounted above the radio next to the clock. Almost all in/outs in US spec cars were installed by dealers in the US where the grab handle is on the right.

Good story..... We were showing the 65 at the North meets South a few years ago. A guy was about three cars down from us kept looking over at our car. Finally came up and asked " is that a Factory 12Volt"? There's no way of knowing whether a car is a 12 or 6 by looking at the outside. I said, sure is. He almost started crying. It was his original 356 that he bought in Germany in 1965 when was stationed there in the Army. He told us if we ever wanted to sell her, please let him know. About five years went by and we had found another 356 that we wanted and decided to sell the 65. We couldn't find the guys card to get in touch with him. The next day!!!! he emails us!!!!! saying Hey remember me? KINDA SPOOKY........He now owns his original 356!
