Paul, I'm new to the forum but am in need of your kit for the 88. Id love to get directly from you but seeing as I'm new I cannot directly contact you. Would it be easier to get it from pelican? Thanks
Richard

I just purchased & installed the kit from Pelican on my '87. Congrats to all the folks that were able to do the install without removing the intake manifold but I couldn't manage it and went the other route and used the opportunity to get properly acquainted with my recent purchase. In the process I found many other items that needed to be sorted out & tidied up. Here's a before & after shot.

Wow very clean there. How'd you get it so clean in there?

oldtractorboy 07-20-2021 06:17 AM

Bead blasted & clear ceramic coated intake plenum, fan & housing. It makes me smile every time I look at it.

myamoto1 07-20-2021 07:36 AM

OTB - did you blast it? If so, what media did you use? I had thought about doing that when swapping my lines, but every time I think about pulling things apart to make them pretty, driving time trumps my desire to tidy things up :)

oldtractorboy 07-20-2021 07:57 AM

I used Performance Coatings in Auburn, Wa and I'm not sure what media they used to blast them but the receipt says GB so I assume glass bead. They don't advertise the clear ceramic coat but suggested it when I said I wanted a natural look with no tints or colors. Also did the valve covers since I was adjusting the valves anyway. They look awesome when I'm under the car. A project better left for the NW off season because you will find other stuff to do while you're in there.

As you can see it also makes the rest of the car better.

Thanks OTB! I currently have my windshield out thanks to "while you're in there" syndrome...

Hi everyone! That’s how I got into this business; I bought an ‘85 and when the lines started dripping fuel I decided to sell a few to see if they could help anyone else out.

OTB, that looks amazing, I’m happy to have been a part of it!

Regarding purchasing from me directly or through our gracious hosts…I’m having supply chain issues so currently Pelican has most of my available inventory until I can restock. Afterwards you’re free to purchase through them or directly through me. Sometimes there is a shipping speed difference, but otherwise you get the same parts for the same price. I appreciate direct sales of course but Pelican has been great for my little business and I’m happy to pay them their percentage for the additional sales they bring in.

Any tips on the "route" for the line under the intake? I've ordered the Mason lines from Pelican and finally got the old line out (what a PITA since I didn't remove the intake).

myamoto1 10-14-2025 06:24 AM

Paul's lines are flexible and very easy to connect. However, I did pull my heater fan about 15+ years ago, so I have easier access around the left side of the intake.

There is a large electrical cable under the intake and I'm trying to figure out if the Mason line should go over, or UNDER that heavy cable. What did others do? Not sure if it even matters but wanted to see what others have done.

myamoto1 10-16-2025 09:59 AM

I looked at mine last night and I went over the cable.

Thats the way I have it positioned now, it seems to be better fit, and thats the way the hard line went. Thanks for confirming.

Good thing the blower fan and housing were easy to remove! Lol, man, can't wait to put those back.

You can backdate your heat and ditch the rear blower. That's what I did and couldn't be happier. I can still cook a goose in the car, even without the blowers...

How is the fuel regulator attached to the engine. That seems like the most difficult operation thus far.

Definitely intrigued, tell me more...Hopefully you have pictures of the project

Post 36 (page 2) will give you and idea of what it looks like. That's an "in-progress" pic, but the finished look isn't much different, just no blue shop towels sticking out :D. The longer term plan is to pull the fan and housing to refinish in cerakote.

thsupernge 10-17-2025 08:31 AM

Ok cool, is that an aftermarket part?
