78 alternator replacement w Valeo wiring?

Hello, I am Replacing a 78 alternator with a Valeo alternator. I have Read about the internal and external voltage regulator differences. I am Still confused if I go with Valeo internal regulator, what do I do With the black wire that is for external regulator? Also, what problems may I have With my gauges if I select the newer internal regulator. Thank you.

Just fold the black wire back and remove the old regulator. No need for the black wire. No difference in the gauges

Thank you for response. Does the alternator light in the gauges now become inactive with dead heading the black wire?

The light is in the blue wire circuit.

Alternator shaft is a different diameter. The Valeo fan/alternator/pulley nut is 24 mm instead of the 22 you had.

Yeah, the cup washer hole probably needs to be enlarged to fit the new shaft. Die grinder or rat-tail.

I enlarged the cup washer described by John Walker using a round file in a motel parking lot. I highly recommend the die grinder alternative in your own shop,
