What does this plug connect to?

Getting ready to reinstall the engine in my 1980 SC. Making a check list for all electrical and fuel line connections that need to hooked up as I reinstall the engine. I cannot figure out where this two prong connector goes. It is on the left side of engine, one brown wire and the other is red/white. It looks like it goes to the other side of engine to the supplementary air valve. Looking in the Bentley Manual page 970-8 lower right corner it shows the valve with the same colored wires.

So where on the left side of engine bay does it connect to???

I was going to make a continuity check at the valve but was not able to disconnect the plastic plug from the valve, did not want to break the plug.

Not used after ‘79 on US models. Just tape it up and tuck it out of the way.

Thanks, after looking at the cable closely I could see where it had been folded and wire tied. Must be the mechanic that did a top end job cut the tie.

Factory just covered the terminals with tape 0n the flats, then a wrap around to secure the tape, then tucked them out of the way.

as I was helping a friend resurrect his 84 944, commented that he will occasionally find connectors not plugged into anything. they may be for things / features your car does not have. as long as all the major things work.

Wire plug

Could be plug for remote voltage regulator which was used on early CIS cars. Later Cis cars voltage reg. were integrated.

Dan, it is used on 78/79 SC’s (and ROW cars after) for the vacuum time delay switch.
80-83 Lambda cars didn’t use it, but Porsche only built one engine harness for all SC’s with Lambda or without Lambda.
