We didn’t know about the ‘host hotels’ until seeing a forum post on Wednesday, didn’t see it posted on their website either. Hotels were sold out by then. Made a reservation at La Quinta by Wyndham (University Area), 5 miles away.

That is one of my concerns. I booked at the Durham hotel which sold out in a day. Parking is Valet. Not sure if I trust the SC in a lot. I may drive the Cayman or fly in.

I was wondering about that. I’d like to drive the 3.2 down, but how’s parking it outside in a normal hotel lot?

I also signed up for email notice and have yet to receive any notification of this event. I admit that I never signed up before. Perhaps they send out notifications to those who participated in prior events first?

Just out of curiosity, but how does one know which hotel to book if no address has been given? While it was announced as Durham NC, this city is not a small town.

It's a car, and a small one at that. It'll fit great in a parking spot! Drive that thing!

Both the "host hotels" are downtown. Go with that. It doesn't matter that much. In LA everything was a 30-60 minute drive.

Theft is always a concern, but there's going to be hundreds of cars in town for this event and aircooled guys look out for each other. We have a few tricks that we do to make sure the car is there in the morning. Some have fuel pump cutouts, some pull relays and disconnect ignition boxes. Anything to make thieves have to work a little harder (but if they really want it, it's gone). Most of the time when we're traveling though, we roll in and the hotel desk is excited to see us, asking questions, and is willing to keep an eye on them while we get some shuteye.

Was just wondering as I’ve never really left the car overnight. I’m still working on a little secret trick. I have the orig Alarm, that scared me more than anyone else, lol. See you guys there.

I was petrified when we stayed at a nice hotel in DTLA. Outside the hotel was rough and my car was self-parked in a garage caddy-corner from the hotel. I parked it in the closest corner spot on top of the garage, but I couldn't see it from my room. First thing the next morning I walked down the hall and squished my face against the glass. I couldn't see the car! My heart stopped. I squished harder and there it was!

What is a valkyrie run? Can I buy tickets to the show there? Why all the pretentious crap for a car show in Durham, NC?
