We didn’t know about the ‘host hotels’ until seeing a forum post on Wednesday, didn’t see it posted on their website either. Hotels were sold out by then. Made a reservation at La Quinta by Wyndham (University Area), 5 miles away.

That is one of my concerns. I booked at the Durham hotel which sold out in a day. Parking is Valet. Not sure if I trust the SC in a lot. I may drive the Cayman or fly in.

We roll up in my ****box Carrera and there wasn't a Porsche in sight, and as a southern commoner, I was a fish out of water. They were going to charge me (at least) $50 to valet my car off-site! I convinced them to put their valet in the passenger seat and let me park my car in an (out of sight) on-site parking with like four other P-cars (all of them under cover.) The stay was not anything to write home about and the bar below our window kept me up late, as did the anticipation of the show on Sunday.

I had enough so Sunday morning we checked out (a day early) and parked our luggage behind the hotel desk so we could go to the show in Torrance. We had to back track to Santa Monica to pick up our luggage on our way out of town.

For 2019 I got an Airbnb with gated parking, right down the street from Race Service. The location was great for us.

20 minutes after the Luft7 email was sent out I called Aloft to inquire about parking, and was relieved that they had $10 self parking in their garage. I expect the garage to be crammed full of air-cooled goodness because they said they sold out immediately but were adding more rooms and would call me back. I reserved two separate king rooms for us and another couple.
Also booked at the A Loft and was happy to see the garage info....I’m sensing a parking lot party in the making...

What email was that? Luft never sent me an email about hotels (I'm on their notice list).

I was wondering about that. I’d like to drive the 3.2 down, but how’s parking it outside in a normal hotel lot?

I also signed up for email notice and have yet to receive any notification of this event. I admit that I never signed up before. Perhaps they send out notifications to those who participated in prior events first?

Just out of curiosity, but how does one know which hotel to book if no address has been given? While it was announced as Durham NC, this city is not a small town.

Guys, check your junk mail or promotional email boxes. That's where mine always end up, which is how I missed buying tickets for Luft5.

It's a car, and a small one at that. It'll fit great in a parking spot! Drive that thing!

Both the "host hotels" are downtown. Go with that. It doesn't matter that much. In LA everything was a 30-60 minute drive.

As my uncle Jay says, "it's a Porsche, not a puppy. Just drive it."

Theft is always a concern, but there's going to be hundreds of cars in town for this event and aircooled guys look out for each other. We have a few tricks that we do to make sure the car is there in the morning. Some have fuel pump cutouts, some pull relays and disconnect ignition boxes. Anything to make thieves have to work a little harder (but if they really want it, it's gone). Most of the time when we're traveling though, we roll in and the hotel desk is excited to see us, asking questions, and is willing to keep an eye on them while we get some shuteye.

I noticed that within a week of the announcement, hotels filled up fast. I booked an AirBnb as soon as I could close by the main hotels.

Awesome. Ya I wasn’t too concerned. Plus, mines not the nicest one..

Was just wondering as I’ve never really left the car overnight. I’m still working on a little secret trick. I have the orig Alarm, that scared me more than anyone else, lol.

See you guys there.

I was petrified when we stayed at a nice hotel in DTLA. Outside the hotel was rough and my car was self-parked in a garage caddy-corner from the hotel. I parked it in the closest corner spot on top of the garage, but I couldn't see it from my room. First thing the next morning I walked down the hall and squished my face against the glass. I couldn't see the car! My heart stopped. I squished harder and there it was!

Ah...I found an email requesting "confirm subscription" which was in the Spam folder outside of my computer (not in Outlook). I hope future emails won't end up there again.

BTW...your 911 is nice!

What is a valkyrie run? Can I buy tickets to the show there? Why all the pretentious crap for a car show in Durham, NC?
