915 Stock Shifter Improvement Spring
Hi guys,
We all know the stock shifter of a 915 gearbox isn't working perfect. And I know the are a lot of great solutions out there to improve the shifting experience like Wevo, Seine Systems and some others. However, as all those unfortunately exceeded my budget, I was searching for something way cheaper and ended up with a simple spring: ![]() This spring can be mounted in the stock shifter without big efforts or any changes to the stock setup itself (so can also be removed easily if needed). As a result, the shifter remains per default in the position 3rd/4th gear plane. So if you want to use the first (or second) gear, you will need to push the shifter to the left - like in modern gearboxes. If you are interested in getting one of those, just let me know and I'm happy to ship it over to you! ______________ Karsten 1978 SC IG: azul_minerva Last edited by Karsten17; 02-21-2020 at 07:59 AM.. |

I had Karsten send me one of these springs as I saw them on Instagram. I’m so impressed. Took me all of 15 minutes to install...and works as advertised. Completely reversible, no cutting, no welding, no drilling. And 1/10 the price of a Wevo. Great idea!! And Karstens great to deal with too. I really recommend it to anyone with a 915!!

I'd be interested. Was going to get a Seine gate shift kit but would be willing to try this. How much shipped to USA?
Looks like the shifter has to be disassembled. This will take me more than 15 minutes. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1051200-springloaded-915-shifter-yes-we-can.html

Thanks, Karsten. Worth a try for around $50. Might you have a video of it in action?

That spring is an incredible find for the 915 shifter. Well done!

Hi Karsten,
Thanks for the quick shipping on the spring. I received mine in the mail on Friday - looking forward to getting it in the car. Now, if I could get the snow, slush, ice thing out of the way, then that would be an interesting shift. Mark |

Check that the plastic cup between the shifter and shift rod is intact. Mine was gone, a new one ($4.75 here) made a huge difference.

this spring is an improvement on top if one has already gone through the bushings replacement.

Karsten, I received your spring and installed it as per your instruction in less then 30 minutes.
I already had new bushings fitted prior, but your spring improvement created the feel we're all looking for with the 915 !!! Very clever. Thank you |
