Because the flange was in contact with the radius I trimmed the flanges I little bit.

I have epoxied in two studs. I will let them cure overnight before doing the rest.

This is powder coat. I scuffed up the surface before applying the epoxy. So far so good

mounting studs
Nice job.You only need 2 in the center like you have done. Now all you need is the slip over moulding for the edges like a 914 engine grill to prevent abrasion.Ciao

Turned out pretty nice, thanks to Fred's skills with metal.
Still trying to get it attached correctly. Taking the muffler off and surrounding covers is prob an 8 hour job I will have to budget time for.

I think I was one of the first 5 to order a panel. It was a while crossing the border into Canada and then I bit the bullet to paint the car so that delayed it but here it is. Fresh from paint. The vinyl lettering is semi reflective like police cars. You need to be at a certain angle to see it. Smoothed the bumper but keeping the strips as I know Ill bump it with something going in and out of the garage.

AlKidd, That looks great! I, too, got one in that first batch and had it painted along with a Euro bumper I picked up at DC Auto this spring. Your semi reflective lettering is spot on! I just need to make time to mount it. Any helpful tips with installation that you can share?

I copied Harpo's process. I used 6 threaded mounts (2 middle, 2 each end) because when I tried Freds idea of only 2, the panel would pivot in the middle. Even with slip on rubber windlass. The big rectangular reflector mounting holes arent the easiest to work around. Big washers inside the panel to cover the hole. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE NUTS. JB Weld is strong but it will let go if you do. I think it has good shear strength but minimal pull strength. I tried Harpos idea of the plastic spacers but each one was different on my car due to panel variations. I was losing patience fitting them on a freshly painted car, trying not to scratch anything.
Im not sure if Fred looked at this but would a panel that slips over the reflector be easier to make? Definitely easier to install. Or weld studs to the inside? In hindsight I should have done that before painting it. Quote:

Bumping this thread up from the past to show off Fred’s handiwork. His rear delete panel is shaped oh so perfect. I mounted this tonite and will do any final adjustments before hanging the muffler back in place this weekend. Local painter did pretty well on color match for this panel and the Euro bumper that was partially white and mostly scratched... Also, Harpo’s suggested studs (provided by Fred) were perfect when epoxied in place.
