I have a 79 with 140K miles, installed this shift and coupler and made a world of difference in bringing some life back/delaying a rebuild. The lockout took awhile to get right and working; had to be very precise. I found myself wanting to naturally center the shifter more forward than would allow the lockout to work.
I have a a wevo classic in my other 79, hard to tell which I prefer more at the moment. The NM definitely feels more precise/shorter in shifting. |

The NR shifter and linkage transformed the 915 box in my ‘78 SC: shifts are far more precise, even with good-condition bushings. No longer guessing 2nd to 3rd or down into 2nd.
One snag, though: about 400 miles in and it’s decided that it no longer wants to center on 3rd, making 2nd -> 3rd a pain. Even from neutral, you have to (now, as of today) move the shifter about 1mm right to get it to slot up into 3rd. The linkage looks good and is *tight* — I suspect there’s just been a bit of movement and that I’ll need to adjust the linkage again? Engine & trans mounts were also done at the same time, but the problem is at any speed and not just under load. |
I have had mine for about a year with no issues on my 86.

- This is absolutely the best way to adjust it. Find 3rd, let it center, rock it back and forth to get 3-4 right, and the rest falls into place. - I think I have my 2-3 shift in a better place now. I suspect some slight movement of the clamp at the linkage threw it out of alignment, since it was perfect at the shop. That or my new engine/trans mounts settling in a bit. |
M5 Thread Ball
So what's the scoop if I don't want to use one of their shift balls?
Can I use a standard crush sleeve ball, or a scew-in M5 threaded one only? What are you guys doing, who use their own ball? |

[QUOTE=jrwilson;12171811]I have a 917 style with set screw.
Nice! Can I ask you where you acquired that? |

Thanks

I'm sure the Numeric is identical to one of them, but I dont know which. Wood looks spectacular... think I need it. |
Probably WEVO but the order confirmation was via email so you'll talk to a person either way and they can make sure you get the right one.

I lathed the threads off the top of the longer extension to fit with a standard crush sleeve shift knob. I’m using one from Manuel but it would work with any stock 915 style crush sleeve knob. I’ll see if I can remember you grab a photo of it later tonight but you can just visualize that the threads are gone and it looks like a smooth cylinder at the top where a knob would go.

I guess most customers are still waiting for the stock looking shift lever option...
The installation video sucks by the way. even with the good reviews from the users. the video doesn't inspire any confidence. too many mistakes in the presentation. how hard is it to reshoot the video. It has been almost 5 years since the product introduced. |
I should start a For sale thread, but I have one of these with a wooden shift knob on it if anyone wants it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1751715055.jpg
