The lockout has to be on the passenger side for the 915 trans. That is where reverse is. The left side is for the 901 trans which has reverse on the left side.
I installed this shifter in my 901 trans and have had no issues with lockout. I have the heavier springs and the extension and would do this combo again. It feels really solid. I have not installed the coupler yet. |
Been having some issues with my Numeric on my SC. Seems like there are people saying that the 5th gear lockout needs to be on the driver and passenger side. Who has the latest here?
|
It depends on whether your transmission is a 901 or a 915. The lockout needs to be on the side reverse is on.

People seem to say the lockout needs to be on passenger and driver side for the 915 in this thread...Wondering if they actually have the shifter or are referencing the stock location on the stock shifter? That would be apples to oranges in this situation.
On a stock shifter, the reverse lockout is on top of the shifter and clearly is on the reverse side of the housing...but, this acts on the shift rod ABOVE it's pivot point. On the Numeric, the lockout is below the pivot and acts on the opposite side. If you mount the lockout on the passenger side for a 915, the lever moves away from the lockout when going into 5th / R. |

Im still absolutely delighted about it.
Same es friends who bought it due to my recommendation. Great shifter! |
You guys have issues with Numeric Racing?
Ordered and payed a 915 set on March 1st. Haven’t heard back at all. No reply to my email March 10 asking for shipping updates. Messages via Instagram are on read but no reply either. Frustrating. edit: resolved. Shipping info received |
quesiton about how this shifter should feel. i think might is a bit tight? needs very high effort to shift, however the shifts are very postiive and the throws are very short. i like how the linkage feels and its very direct. just wish it was a bit more.. fluid? i hope that makse sense. overall really enjoying the first few miles.
i should add that it was installed along with a new motor, clutch etc. so i have no idea how to adjust it or if its even adjustable in that sense. |

jJim,
I installed the Numeric in my '74 Targa. I had a Rennshift previously and once the Numeric was installed, it felt stiff. It was difficult to move. Last week I took the shifter off and discovered that I had installed the bracket that holds the shift rod bushing incorrectly. Hate to admit it but I installed on the inside the tunnel instead on on top. Changed it and it was an amazing change in feel. Was going to keep my dumb mistake to my self but thought I'd share in case the same was done to yours. Depending on if you have a console, you pull the boot up and remove the bolts holding the shifter down. Lift it out and see if the bracket is installed on top of the center tunnel. Their optional shift extension also helps. I went with the longer one. Tony |
I’ve had and enjoyed the Numeric shifter in my G body for well over a year, but just before my last rally, it went out of “alignment”. The lockout is on the driver’s side and has worked flawlessly, and then stopped.
Reviewed the videos again and noted the adjustment nut and threaded inset hex bolt for correction. When I went to do the adjustment, the threaded hex bolt is not inset and I don’t have the ability to correct. I contacted Numeric before the rally and had no answered phones or returned calls. Ended up scratching reverse far more than I wanted during the rally and a missed shift to avoid scratching again. I have gotten rather frustrated after it working so well. After multiple calls and initiating “chatting”, I have not received ANY response to my efforts from either person at Numeric. Even spoke to a vendor about the issue and they said their customer service is not something to get excited about. Well that doesn’t solve my issue. I’m wondering if I bought one of the earlier gbody models that may have not had the inset screw, but all I want is to have this back to operating like it had. Has anyone else had this issue, and did Numeric respond to correct? Thanks. |
Ordered one when they were first offered. Have never received any response to problems or inquiries. Shifter is terrific but there is no Cust Service. I’ve never got my reverse lockout to work even after moving it to the drivers side from the passenger side as it was installed by the manufacturer. The YouTube video is laughable. Filled with incorrect information. Too bad they don’t reply. Hate to think how a warranty issue would be handled.

are there any information available about Numeric planning to make a shifter for g body g50 transmissions (1987-1989)? thanks!•

also having issue with reverse lockout. i grabbed a bunch of reverse downshifting from 5th last week. generally, im happy with the shifter. height is great. throws are the right length. i seem to have issues requiring a lot more effort than i would expect to get out of gear, but it goes through nuetral and into the next gear smoothly. also of note, i broke the set screw for the shift knob |
Anyone have a rough idea of the time commitment to get the NR shifter and couple installed including carpet and console removal? I’ve done it on my 930 equipped car but it really doesn’t have an interior.
Have to determine if it’s worth undertaking with a five year old and one month old when I only get about an hour at a time to do work. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1689969085.jpg |

I just got the car back on the road today after spending a week back dating the heat and installing strut braces so I’ll probably drive it for a week or two then go for it. |
That is kind of a while your in there question too. Hows your bushings etc. How good are you at setting up your shift coupler? A lot of variables to your question.

I set up my 930 shifter and coupler a few months ago after dropping and reinstalling the engine on my 72 so I'm decently familiar. |
