Buy them, sell them

My '76 is still in it's original spec. It has no power windows, A/C, airpump etc, and feels very light on it's feet.
The '89 Cab, however feels like a tank. It rides very smoothly, by virtue of it's weight smoothening things out, but to me it's not as nimble. It probably handles better, but without the raw feel of the 2.7. In a lot of respects, the 2.7 is a more fun (involving) car to drive, although the '89 is nicer to drive and more fun to be seen in.

Slider, If you plan on Club Racing the car, read the rules before you start removing things. That is if you plan on staying in stock class.
cheers, James

for 3.2L engine:
Induction manifold, FI system, computer, air box & filter, all hoses and cables -- 44.2 stock exhaust -- 73 lbs. These are accurate wt.s -- I don't have the info for carbs, SSIs (yet). Don't have info on CIS (but there are other reasons to kill the CIS). |

Just keep your car the way it is and pickup a 2004 Lotus Elise RS 190HP 1700 lbs.

When you strip all the parts off, I doubt the tubs weigh much different from year to year.

Actually Super, the zinc of the galvanizing adds quite a few pounds . . . .and then there's the lack of rust-ho. . er a . .lightening-holes.

So... if we could make the tub out of Ti, we would save much more than 300 lbs.... and have no rust either.
