1986 a sophomore in high school.. my 1974 911 originally brown. I painted it red and put over 150k miles on her over the next 10 years. I knew ever nut and bolt on that car.I could drop the motor in 45 minutes.
Must have replaced every stud in that magnesium case. Took me a year to realize my father stretched the spring in the rotor so it couldn't go over 5000rpms...Loved that car. ![]()

SWEET ride. When they look like that, when mine looked like that, it is SO much more fun and easy to drive.

Here's my 1989. I picked it up back in 2021 in need of some love and I obliged, lol. Finished up the engine back on 11/22 and have been enjoying it since with several road trips under my belt, most recently a 2500 mile trip a couple weeks ago with the PCA. I held my own in the mountains with the new stuff so I must have done something right.

I had a Boxster I really enjoyed as well as a couple 914s back in my youth and I really liked the way Porsche built things, so I wanted to try their flagship. I couldn't afford a cabriolet but had to have some sort of droptop, so I found a 1984 targa.... A great car.
I then discovered that Porsche had a harder time selling targas "back in the day" so they made a factory conversion kit to allow removal of the targa bar and the addition of a full top. This was before the air-cooled models went nuts pricewise, so I broke out the welder and my targa became a cab. It's one of the very few cars I regret selling. Not because of the dramatic value increase since then but it was such a well-balanced and well-engineered car that I didn't truly appreciate back then. ![]()

Hi, this my 1969 911E . Have owned it 40 years , 220,000 miles Sold new in Hong Kong, as a Sporto, full service history. Arrived here in New Zealand in 1984 , I changed the Sporto, to a 901/ 5 speed manual , and have never regretted it. I love it , and enjoy working on it , myself. So simple compared to later 911s. Earlier this year, a friend and I , entered the Classic Alpine Tour rally, in the South Island ( NZ) , 3000 miles by the time I returned, 32 mpg , only problem, was a headlight bulb blew , I had spare ,10 minutes later all fixed, and away again. .

Here's your twin! I bought my 1977 Targa in Oct 1976 - quoted as the first '77 in the US. It's cherry - except for a '87 Carrera Engine with 56 K miles on it about 15 years ago, plus new seats. It's only got about 92K on the frame and ~ 62K on the engine. Therefore, it's not "truly original, but the ~ 300HP modified engine/exhaust has made the car everything it should have been!

![]() Took the plunge about a month ago on this 1987 cabrio. My mother-in-law started looking into mid-life crisis cars and I got a bit carried away... I'm only the second owner, which is pretty crazy feeling. All stock on the inside and seemingly well sorted. The cabrio top was recently replaced, which has already come in handy - it's been rained on pretty thoroughly a few times and so far so good. We've already put about 2000 kilometers on it, including a nice little road trip up to Georgian Bay. I think I'm just about through the phase where every new sound you notice sends you into a spiral of top-end rebuild paranoia. That is a phase, right? |

Yesterday I added to the fleet with this super clean '85 coupe. 38k original miles and it drove great back to SD from LA. Loving it so far.

Unfortunately he passed recently, but I will go thru some of his old stuff to try and find some pictures. I do remember him bringing it to my elementary school in kindergarten for show and tell, lol.
