Wire gauge and where to buy
I’m looking to clean up my wire harness: i have a few questions. Wire gauge for common ground wires, good source to buy solid and multi color wire rolls.
Thanks in advance |

14 AWG is the minimum size you should use. There are a lot places to get wire. McMaster, Wirecare, CeElectric and Prowire are a few sources. I have been using the milspec from McMaster. It closely approximates the OG. It is pricey though.

I don’t think you need #14 in all applications. I fuse/size the wires depending on the load.
I bought a used harness to do some projects on my ‘87. Has worked out great. |

These guys usually have a good selection of wire and will cut to smaller lengths.
Drop downs show color combinations. PVC Wires Or, Hit me up with colors, gauge and lengths you are looking for. All of my wires are spiral striped.

In my car I notice three sizes, extra large, large, and medium. The extra large is limited to the battery and starter. The large feeds the fuse block and keyswitch. The medium is everything else. It would be interesting to know what those are in metric and AWG equivalent.
