78 slantnose back to stockish

Hi everybody new guy here. I recently picked up a 78 911sc. This car was converted to a steel slant nose in the 80s. I’m new to Porsche and was wondering what parts it will take to get the front back to stock? The kit looks bolt on but I don’t know what I don’t know. So I will need 78 fenders and headlight s, but I’m presuming there will be more small parts necessary? I don’t know to post pics yet.

you can use 1974-89 front fenders. If you can find some that already have turbo (930) flares, all the better. Otherwise you will have to buy a pair of flares and have them butt welded to the fenders. Then you might consider getting rid of that lower fugly valence and option for a stock valence with the turbo rubber spoiler, or one of several other options in fiberglass that look a whole lot better than what is on there now.
The correct turbo rockers are out there used, but pricey. The vents in the rear turbo quarter panels could be filled , with some patch welding, but it takes an experienced metal guy to do it right. Depending on your budget you may want to keep those vents in place

First off Super Cool Car! Anyways are you going to try and return to stock I.e. impact bumper or are you thinking of backdating the front. If going back to stock 78 sc, parts should be easer to come across ( as lots of guys have backdated their cars) .

I’d be happy either way. Imagine I can’t cheat on the fenders have to have the turbo flares ir it would probably look off? I’m stoked on the car.

You would have to buy as complete rear SC or Carrera quarter panels for the back if you wanted to go back to SC stock. $$$$$
Hence my advice to stay with a traditional turbo look and consider the different treatments for the front valence, rockers, and rear vents.
FWIW you could modify it into a IROC RSR look too, if you went with one piece front and rear bumpers, and installed the all glass whale tail
Its subject to your dream as to what the completed car will look like

I agree on getting rid of the lower valence. Look around, there are a LOT of options.

The factory slant nose cars had three "slats" in the rear fender. At least it'd look more like a stock slant nose.

The fenders look like those modded by "Golden Coachworks," if that's any interest to you.

I’m with you. Based on the one photo, I would clean, detail, repair, tune, and enjoy as-is! Steel flat nose conversion? That couldn’t have been a cheap undertaking back in the day, could it? More pics please, and welcome to the forum.

P.S. I have no issues with the front valence either! Clean it up and show this car off!

Finding all of your parts in one place would save a lot of time and money.
Here is my SC, not quite the same valence but I think it looks fine.

listen to Dave at TRE he is very knowledgeable. His shop is in the Los Angeles area.
Great guy and also a great source for parts or repairs or even building a car from the ground up.

I never disliked the slantnose cars but I find that, as more time goes by, I really do love that look. I loved them in the 80's and even more today. Great look in my opinion. That front valance is pretty standard stuff from an 80's-90's conversion. Looks fine too.

Generally not a huge fan of the slant nose but yours looks solid. Any other photos of her?

Another vote for keeping it a slant nose! At least for the short term. Clean and detail and fix mechanical stuff first.

For what its worth, I think it could be really cool, more or less as is. I be seen a number of people de-converting slantnoses, but may be really unique in a few years.

Man, that car is awesome.
Instead of converting, would you consider selling and acquiring one that was more traditional?
