1980 911 SC Door Latch Spring Replacement
Can anyone tell me a source for a spring that tethers the latch release bell-crank to the interior door panel (the spring pulls the interior door release lever back into position)? The spring is not called out in the Porsche factory catalog but it looks like a shorter version of the latch return spring on our host's site.

ago,
Take the spring out with the swivel base. Should be attached with Phillip small screws. Cut about 1/3 of that spring with a wire cutter, bend end to fit and re-attach it. Lubricate that swivel before installation. You should now have more tension. I have seen doors with it and without that spring (newer doors). I won't pay $20.00 for a 50-cent spring Be careful not to pinch yourself with the spring wire (don't ask) Best of luck, Jose Last edited by AirJose; 10-17-2022 at 11:32 AM.. |

Jose,
I gave up my search and did what you suggested with the broken factory spring; it worked well to bend the first turn of the coil into a loop to hook onto the door. Thank you! |
