Last two digits are paint manufacturer and where it was painted.

Question:
To access the hood latch 3 bolts (13mm?) All I have to do is pull the Front Bumper? Looks as if there is a lip. The cable is junk, won't release, stuck down. I'd like to pull the tank out, and see if there are any treasures in the trunk. |

Question #2
When I first got into the cabin, the key turned.. I removed the key, to turn the lock, on the passenger door, for entry.. and the steering column..LOCKED.. Now the key won't turn the ignition, and this key looks nimble... I'd like to unlock it, to make it a roller, a steering roller.. Is there a trick? I tried rocking the wheel, while turning the key.. are the bolts under the column, to release the lock? |

So, how did I get the Hood Open, Frunk, trunk on this pristine 1973 LWB porsche 911 e.
1.) I took the passenger side front 2 bolts out of the front bumper-and one on the side, which lowered and widen the gap. 2.) Pulled the rubber out that was between the hood and bumper. 3.)wedged the hood open, with wood Puck, and shim.. 4,) Sprayed the bolts( 2 bolts of hindge, hood side)down with PB Blaster 5.) 10mm, 12 point closed ended wrench, 1/4-1/2 turns till they came out. 6.) I started with the driverside, once out, the hood started to gap more. 7.) Then passenger side, wedge the hood open, to catch the finger latch in the release, or upper toward hood, so that there is more room to get the wrench in, repeat, 1/4-1/2 turns away from you, use stick to get the most turn, out of the bolt/ wrench.. Thanks Big HarryD..for the help, and links. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will redo this procedure, and step by step, the photos when I'm on a confuser later Last edited by 73 911; 04-06-2023 at 07:44 PM.. |

Nice stuff.
FWIW, under the knee pad near the ashtray, is a stamped production number. Also, if you remove the padded dash cover, there "should" be a number in crayon.

A pillar VIN tag??? You don’t say! Car to share a pic of that because that was a NA market thang? I have seen early imported cars with unique state by state tags added there during import for DOT compliance. Might be that your car is a VERY convincing euro look car but, I’m still leaning towards legit Euro market.
