I am getting ready to purchase some land in the country and have been debating this for the last 6 months.

Tar and gravel roads and 1/2 mile long driveway.

One of my 911s is a project/fun car and was wondering from your estimation what is the cost of just the "lift" alone - suspension wise? Wheels and tires I am not worried about...

We own a few old Land Rovers (as daily drivers) and just lifting one of the 911s would prove it way more useful and enjoyable, especially with BFG tires, etc...

Subscribed to your channel...learning a lot.

Any insight is appreciated...as I was under the impression it was quite costly.

Erik

Speak with Jim, Jed, Aaron et al, they’re local and have done it.

I have a log booked, competition spec 911 rally car. If you want the look of a safari car and desire to run BIG tires, then a lift is needed. I run proper 195/70r15 rally tires and my shocks are stock length EXE-TC from the UK. My car is a tinge over US spec right hight for gravel competition.

On 195/70r15 Gravel tires

Tarmac spec

Since my objective on this build is to keep it budget friendly, my costs have been minimal. I prepped the front struts (lowering the spindles) myself, had a buddy weld them up, and I painted them with John Deere green paint - total cost was $15 for the spray paint (elephant racing wanted something like $1200 to do this so I think I made out like a bandit !!). The rear KYB shocks were $100 on amazon after much research to find the right fitment. The most expensive part was the Rennline bump steer kit bought from our host at $300 (granted the car already had the turbo tie rod kit which is a must). Everything else was labor which I did myself. The most time consuming part was getting the rear height where I wanted it. Any adjustment required complete disassembly of the rear suspension on both sides - not difficult but very time consuming. After all that, $180 for an alignment and she is on the road

Your car looks great !! Proper competition car. Mine is just a *****s and giggles build for some off road fun and definitely not meant for any serious competition. One can do a lot with these cars in just about stock form, like my rally car

Fender mud flaps/splash guards: Where did you get them, or did you make them? If made, from what material?

Thanks

The ones on the white car were there when I bought it. They were hand made from some sort of plastic sheeting but I can't say for sure exactly what.
For the safari I bought some cheap universal mud flaps on ebay for $20 and Ill be installing those soon.

Thanks. I'm not interested in building a rally car, or even a safari-look car, but I live 1/2 mile up a gravel road, and some flaps would be helpful just for my local driving to keep mud, gravel, etc. off the rockers and out of the wheel wells.
