1989 3.2 ULTIMATE - no heat - SS EXHAUST.

Hi there,

I've owned a 1989 911 3.2 – European coupe – for several years now. The G50 3.2 has always been my dream car, and this one is my ultimate keeper – I have no intention of ever selling it.
I live in Europe and use the car as a weekend toy.
Besides the Porsche, I also own a 1967 MGB GT (which I drive in classic car rallies), a few motorcycles, and of course, a family car for daily duties.

But back to the 3.2...
Right now, I’m trying to dial the car in as close to perfection as possible – focusing on weight reduction, visual aesthetics, sound, and fixing anything that doesn’t work properly. One of my heat exchangers is rusted through and needs replacing. The car currently has a steel cat bypass (1in1out) and a chip.

However, I’m looking for the ultimate stainless steel exhaust – one that will never rust, is lightweight, and sounds great.

All of my motorcycles are fitted with top-tier, loud exhaust systems, and they’re overall pretty raw machines – so I don’t mind a bit of discomfort in the 911 either, as long as the sound and weight are right.

Also, I don’t need heating. So I’m specifically looking for a setup without heat exchangers.

My long-term goal is to get the car’s weight slightly under 1 ton. That means things like deleting the heating system, removing the rear seats, swapping the front seats, carbon ducktail, carbon hood, and so on are all part of the plan.

My question is:
Can I fit this setup to a 1989 EU 3.2 car?
Visually, by weight, and also price-wise – it seems ideal for my build.

Thanks!

Ultimate? What do you mean?

SS gets you the rust prevention you want. On an otherwise stock 3.2, you could Fabspeed, B&B, SSI, Dansk stainless OE style heat exchangers....

I get you on the bikes. Just put the full Akropovic SS exhaust (carbon can) on my 25 ZX6R. Kinda shame they don't make the Ti one I had on my last one...

Cheers

Sure, that's just about perfect for what you described

I'd rethink the heat though, i use it mostly to defog the windshield and there are versions of that exhaust w/ heat.

I was advised by someone on this board smarter than I am to get the MK-HE163L-911 headers from Brian at M&K/Rarlyl8 specifically because of the tubing size and 30-32" long primaries

You just described the M&K Exhaust product line.

Our systems have always been the lightest on the market. We have a system designed specifically for the 3.2L engine; tuned medium length headers and sport muffler. The entire system in standard 304 S/S weighs less than a Dansk sport muffler. Heat exchangers are also an option; they are made of hardened aluminum and weigh nothing.

I recently installed a M&K single in/single out muffler w/ their active exhaust pre muffler. I am very happy with quality of the product.

Can't comment on the headers/exhaust specifically but can verify the quality of the products I received from M&K.

Best
