Take the opportunity to inspect wiring, lock mechanism, window regulator, etc. Lube items as appropriate. Also, a GREAT time to replace incorrect / mismatched panel hardware and upgrade plastic inner door releases to aluminum versions. I like the Sonderwerks offerings...

Aluminium. ![]() Classic9 Leather Shop offers an interior fastener / hardware kit. Admittedly, it's $92, but it's 370 pieces organized in a plastic case. Wonderful, especially if you own / work on multiple cars. After working on all my cars and some of my friends' cars, I'm getting ready to buy my second one. www.classic9leathershop.com/interior-screw-kit-911-964-993-928-924-944-986-1970-1995

What I don't understand is why there is a Porsche tax on simple items like carpet. Actually, I understand. I just don't like it.
Black is black and these cars aren't any fewer than other cars and the carpet isn't really special. Also, 5 cents worth of plastic printed to fit a flavor of Porsche is some how priced like it's made of gold. I found the door striker repair kit for L16 on Roger Bray in London after I'd ordered 2 sets for $60 each. That's $21USD at today's conversion rate vs $59.50 - $70 in the US. Parts shouldn't cost more here just because we're here. Last edited by junkman300SD; 12-03-2025 at 12:24 PM.. |

I used two trash bags, and some black duct tape. It is all out of view behind the door card anyway.
Plus when you have to take the door apart again because something rattles, you're really going to hate waiting for another specialty part shipment.

Just use a thick plastic dropcloth (10mil?) stuff from Lowes/HD. Cut to fit, and the black goo up the thread is what the factory uses to stick it on. Cheap. but effective and looks factory.
