No start help
1977 911S. Good battery. No starter action. Solenoid clicks. Checked grounds. One clue is that the alternator light does not come on when the switch is in the on position. Bench tested starter - good. starter is WOSP. Thoughts?

First;
Check voltage at starter low current wire on solenoid, while someone turns the key to start, should stay around 12v while cranking. Ant.

I’d try another battery that has a confirmed 14.6 v. Recheck the battery posts for cleaning and ensuring they’re tight.
Any background on the cars usage? Has it sat in storage maybe getting driven only once every few months ? Do you use a battery tender during storage? Depress clutch pedal before starting too. then in gear, could be seized and rusted to flywheel if stored in damp conditions long time. The ignition switch contacts can be dirty, tarnished or a bit corroded from no use. Try rotating key on-off-run a few times to activate the switch, which the electrical portion are known to go bad and problematic and keep in mind that the ignition lockout isn’t interfering with turning the key and loosen any tension that may be on the steering wheel. |

New battery confirmed good. Starter bench tested good. Driven regularly. Solenoid is pulling in.
Does anyone know what the no alternator light (which always comes on until car idles) means to this situation? It's probably a good clue to those who know more. Thank you |

If the solenoid is pulling in when the starter motor is fitted to the car, then it has to be either the starter motor faulty [you say it works on the bench] or faulty ground straps, again you've said you have checked these, or main high current cabling going to the starter motor or battery, I think you need to re-check everything as suggested.
