Heading to the dyno tomorrow, so place your bets on whp
Healthy 1985 3.2. Here's the bolt ons: - Steve W chip - Steve W ported TB - Custom 1 5/8" headers - Dansk 2 in 2 out sport muffler Told them to bring a couple extra ratchet straps to keep this thing on the dyno Closest WHP guess gets a Stella's Garage Hat or 915 Shifter Spring ![]() ![]()

With a 40-year old stock engine that started its life at 207 hp, I think 220 hp would be a pretty good result.

Ant, assuming a 15% power loss due to transmission, 234 at the wheels would mean 275 at the flywheel.

Steve has some good data here from 3.2SS and 3.4SS builds, tending closer to ~250rwhp on some of those builds: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1125595-fun-dyno-comparisons-3-2-vs-3-4-vs-964-a.html
Assumptions: yours is a US 3.2 (9.5:1 CR), you have larger headers (41mm) to let the top end breath more, but no cams, so you’re going to be a little limited there. You’re also in CA so will be on 91 pump gas. My 3.2SS with similar mods — 38mm SSIs, Dansk 2-1, 10.2 CR Mahles, ported heads, TB, 993SS cams, SW chip on 93 — is a hair over 250RWHP. Guess: ~232RWHP on the dyno, or 257HP at the flywheel (11% loss). That might be a tad optimistic but you’d probably pick up a ton with some good cams.

I built a 3.4L for my Targa. 964 cams, SW chip, stock exhaust.
It pulled 217 hp at the rear wheels. Your 3.2 with stock cams and headers, I would think 210 at the wheels would be nice. BTW, I don't need more hats, LOL. Cheers Engelbert

With a similar setup my ‘88 read 217 at the wheels (~249), euro pre-muffler + SW chip + dansk sport (1:1) gd lk!

Some of you guys are being incredibly generous haha - I'd love to see some of these numbers!
My guess is 211 at the wheels. It'll be good to see as the next step on the build is a 993SS cam + custom Steve W tune |

This is a street 3.2 with mild cams I want to say 964 but I don't honestly remember, PMO ITBS and a stand alone that I tuned awhile back on an honest Dynojet with the newest Dynoware RT hardware and Winpep8 (new hardware tends to read lower than the old stack and Winpep7).
It had big, heavy 17" wheels fyi.

Steve’s tune for the 993SS cams is great. Redline comes on FAST and you really feel the engine breathing when it hits 5k.
