This thread is a lot bigger than the part it discusses. The hole is about the size of a 3/16" drill bit. 7/32" is too big to fit the hole.
Yes, the first CIS system had the plug. #39 in diagram for '73.5 PET. 911 110 934 00 Stopper for Adjusting screw. Same part # through 1980. It seems in '81 when they went to O2 sensor and frequency valve they started using the tamper proof screw, which they recommend buying a new tamper proof screw. There seems to be 2 places I ordered one from Classic DMC https://store.classicdmc.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=102392A I did not have a lot of faith in DeLorean Go. When checking shipping, on half the choices they said not to use please choose the most expensive option.

I received the plugs today. They seem to be nicely made, but the flair on the end is a bit large for the hole. I don't want to push it too hard to get it in, as this might push the metal pin through the hard rubber stopper end. I'll give the tip a light sanding till it fits in snug.
I don't know how it will fit the later CIS with the tamper proof screw. From the photos of the DeLorean air plate, it seems they may have been the tamper proof screw type.

Which one did you get? I ordered the one from the Delorean place in Texas. It arrives today.

I was expecting a small envelope, but it was a large mailer containing a catalog and other advertising, including a few fabric swatches. Instructions say to use WD40 or silicone grease, but as I say it is a bit too tight.

Just arrived. Same issue.
I note that @Schulisco says the hole is 7 mm. Mine is 4.5 mm. But the second shoulder is just a tad over 7mm. I'm not sure this plug would work for his 7mm hole. I also note that the Delorean hole looks different. Could it be that the Porsche plug version is different?

Ok, I've been filing off the first lip. I think I'm going back to my first comment that I've heard the 73.5 didn't have these. Or the Porsche one is different.
But after getting off almost all of the first lip, adding a little lube, it fits very well. At least it is suction. So it shouldn't come out. Hopefully there won't be any backfires, and if there are, that's what the pop off valve is for. But maybe it would be a good idea to add a safety wire to make sure the thing isn't lost by someone who takes it out. Last edited by Jay Laifman; 12-20-2025 at 07:22 PM.. |
