Those bumpers look superb! What kind of weight saving have you made, overall and front/rear? I'd love some of those for my Euro car - tell your fabricator to start up a production line! Could you post a frontal 3/4 view too please?

The bumpers are from BW Motorsport. There were a bunch of us that got in on a group buy for those, 'cept Brian had his modified to include the air ducts. Try this link: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=94997 E-mail me if you want more info than what's on the thread..happy ready

Bill, the wheels are 17's from Mille Miglia...Long Live the SCWDP!
Moses, your car looks pretty cool as is, but I'd be happy to trade my front bumper for your motor!!!!!!!! Craig, I am not sure if I will be here for the Barber DE or not, but I'd love to hook up with you and your son when you are in town sometime, just let me know when! (I will be at the Talladega event, though.) And on to the bumpers....As Souk said, they were purchased from Brad at BW Motorsports during our group buy. A few fitment issues were noted by our board members and I assure all of you that these problems have been cleared up. The lights now fit nice and flush in the fiberglass and there has been a fiberglass lip added to the inside of the front so we can put on the rubber lip. I received my original bumper set back in April but sent the front back for the modification. I just received it back this week and got it on as quickly as possible. Installation is simple, although can be time consuming. Any idiot like me can do it with the help of some cheap clamps to help hold things in place. I think I have a source for the rubber lip material, but will know better by this weekend. It sounds like conveyor belt material that will need to be cut to fit. And by the way, the ducktail has crossed my mind. I even used that picture as wallpaper for a while!! Any other questions, let'em keep coming!! Brian

on the color...what else do you want to do to the exterior?
1) wheels the same? 2) are you getting rid of the tail? 3) same mirrors? 4) same rockers? 5) will the trim work stay black (on the windows, etc.) IMO you'll have to consider all of the above items to give it a correct/sweet look... now that the bumpers are done by Brad, I'm calling him today...

Hey Schuey,
Wheels will stay the same for quite a while, but maybe some Fikse or Kinesis in the distant future. Tail stays for the time being but will definately be replaced in the future. Different mirrors but not decided yet, no rocker panels at all, and sticking with black trim......So there you have it!

If it were my car, and I was going to paint everything, I would do the following:
1. Have the rain gutters removed; 2. Have the rear flares extended an inch; 3. Change the mirros to YB type or 993 Sport (The type that mount to the windwing) 4. Paint yellow. Great looking car.

I got my front cap from Brad like 2 months ago! Some people are just ordering theirs now?
Guess I should have waited it out and could have got the lip for the chin spoiler and also contoured brake duct openings instead of fog light holes........... Oh well. The regular front cap should do fine for me. Looks great Brian! I've always liked darker reds so my vote would be to stay the same. Don't you need to reinforce something when you remove the rain gutters (which are apparently more than just rain gutters)? I remember reading something about that, but can't remember where.

Very nice!, I would paint to match the rest of the car, a very nice red.
The fog holes make great brake ducts Exhibit A

Kevin, when I spoke with Brad yesterday, he was open to do what he could to have all his customers be satisfied. I would call him & ask if he would swap out your bumper for one with brake duct holes. Brad said if I wanted to send him a rear grill from my tail he would cut & fit it. Unfortunely I gave my grill away.Bill's fog light openings look great with the grills that he used. I went with the fog light openings so I would have a choice to go either way. Brad also said that the group buy Pricing that Souk arranged (Thank's Souk) would end soon. Craig

Given that the new mold with brake ducts also has the rear lip so you can mount a rubber spoiler, I would definitely give Brad a call if you are interested. He seems more than willing to make our group happy, realizing, of course, that good PR does wonders for his business.

I tried to revive the original "Ultimate" thread, but it doesn't seem to want to come to the first page...here's what I posted:
I had a conversation with Brad at BW Motorsport today, and he is ready to make the new CTR (Yellowbird) bumpers for any new orders. That new mold allows for a vertical lip for mounting of a rubber lip under the car, as well as replacing the fog light recess with a proper looking cooling duct. Brian, “Ipapilot”, did a good job of describing the new part in his thread. Brad can also glass in a rear deck grill in the front cooler opening for you, if you want. You’ll have to work that out with Brad. Brad can also make the other CTR bumper (with fog light recess) with the same lip as mentioned above. If you have an older one that was ordered, he may be able to glass in a lip for you, but that’s something you’ll have to work out with Brad. Shipping cost may be prohibitive. FINALLY! The group buy prices have been extended. Since Brad when to the trouble of making the new mold for the new part, he’ll extend the group buy price deadline until September 30th. I've talked with Brad a bunch of times and I will 100% agree that he's a great fella.
The fog light holes don't bother me much. Like Craig said, Bill's look great (that car so rocks it should be against the law!) I just don't want to send my bumper cap back to him again. I had to send it back once already (at no cost of course) because it got damaged in transit the first time. I'd rather drive it down to him than try to box that big sucker. I threw away the custom mummy/1000-rolls-'o-tape box in which it was originally shipped. The lower rubber spoiler lip would be cool and i'm sure it'll bother me if I don't have one on there. What to do? Hmmmmmm........

Thanks Brian!
No hurry. My bumper cap is just sitting in the spare bedroom 'til winter comes around.

I must say as one of the earlier buyers through the group buy I feel a little used. The quality of my bumper cap when it arrived was not what was expected.
First off no lip to mount the rubber spoiler, which was one of the main reasons I voted for BW over the other vendors, answer was mold changed since Bill V got his piece. My signal lights fit horribly (see previous Ruf post). This required cutting out the boxed section and redoing it to get them to mount nicely. You would think they went to the trouble of drilling the holes to mount the signals that they would notice the lights stuck out almost 1/2". They still need some work but that will be saved for a winter project. The bumper was cut incorrectly from the mold, it didn't sit centered on the car and on the right hand side too much material had been trimmed so it didn't extend under the fenders far enough to overlap the mounting holes. The tabs for fog light mounting also needed some work to get the lights to fit reasonably. While I'm glad the guys getting caps now are happy, I feel a little like a guinea pig being one of the earlier people to fork over their money. What happened to getting the product right the first time around, or quality control? I'm sure Brad is a nice guy and seems to be standing behind his product and working to improve it, but as a first time customer I am disappointed with the experience. Anyway after a lot of work on my part they turned out OK ![]() Todd

Todd:
I'm sorry you had such a hard time. But just to get the other side's story, Brad told me that he made several attempts to offer to fix the problem(s) for you, but you did not take him up on his offers. I don't think Brad would post here, but he is sorry that the two of you were not able to connect and work it out. |

Souk
After purchasing the bumpers I have had no contact with Brad so I am unclear as to how he made several offers to correct the problem? As I stated I am sure Brad is a good fellow, he was very nice to deal with prior to the purchase. I am just saying I was disappointed with the quality of MY bumpers. Maybe I was just lucky. I am just offering my experiance with the bumpers and my opinions can be taken for what they are, my opinions. Todd

Kevin,
It's not my idea, but rather John's (beamonk on the list). If you take his basic idea of bending a strip of aluminum lengthwise at a 90 degree angle you could attach it to the inside of the bumper lip. John had his piece extending down and bolted on, but if you were to epoxy the aluminum in and extend it upwards you could eliminate any screws/bolts being visible. The material being used is conveyor belt material that can be cut to any size. In the pictures below, you will see the lip frayed, but there are other belt types out there that will not do this. Hope this gives you some ideas, and thanks to John for the publishing rights! Brian
