I believe these to be components for the J-Pipe kit (there may be extra parts):

You know if you just looking for a J-pipe, the one I had made for the SC kit will fit a carrera.

rfng, pm sent...

david.avery 08-21-2004 08:56 AM

RickM, from your pics, it looks like the J replaces the cat area, is that correct? Is that a proto kit? I'd love to see what the upper part of the engine looks like, ie where the inlet and outlet hoses enter the engine compartment, and whether you lost your ac and engine blower. Some pics please ;)

The proto stage 1 keeps both of these, which are a must for me.

david,

i havent heard from todd yet, but the website lists the old price still.....

Rick, looking at the pics, how does the air from the turbo get to the AFM? Does it go around the back of the engine and hook a sharp turn?

I labelled the parts... can anyone comment on them?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093128759.jpg

Nice! Thanks Juan!

This is way back when you were at phase 1 on the side, right?

Hard to tell, where is your air filter and is the blower motor still in there and live?

a= charge pipe to afm
b=appears to be air filter piping
c= turbo outlet chargepipe that connects to a
d= heater blower pipe
e= 90 deg boot for turbo inlet from air filter to compressor inlet

my question is what is the big metal box?

anyone notice the 40mm tial with the broken off flange...;)

david.avery 08-21-2004 07:49 PM

Thanks... big box is the borla they use I think. Yep, I saw the tial as well... wondered if the flange unbolts?

ssetek 08-21-2004 07:53 PM

yeah probably still unbolts, with out a brace on it it will rip off the pipe over time the way that wg was mounted.

juan ruiz 08-21-2004 08:41 PM

That "BIG BOX" is a custom made muffler, the 'Tial" flange is not broken it was just modified.

The air filter sits on the left side tuck in the corner this was a 100% Custom Made kit from Protomotive the "economically' on the side :) the blower motor was there and working this kit produced 277rwhp/320FHP

Heres Before when everyone told us that we were crazyhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1093149567.jpg

WydRyd 08-22-2004 12:56 AM

Hey Juan, you are increasing RWHP by approx 70HP every year

Imagine what you'll be at in 2010! :D

dickster 08-22-2004 12:08 PM

david

i have confirmation that the $5400 kit is now $5600. i can live with that increase.

WydRyd 08-22-2004 08:17 PM

Is that the Intercooled kit Rich?

dickster 08-22-2004 10:16 PM

merv,

no, its their real simple j pipe kit, without IC - good for about 320hp.

thats the one you bought, right?

you have pm!

WydRyd 08-23-2004 12:07 AM

Ah OK. I didn't buy their WHOLE kit. I chose to go with a KKK turbo, rather than their T04B unit and I also had my own IC custom fab'd with all custom fabricated aluminium intake pipes, BMC carbon fibre airbox, mille-miglia dual tip 930 muffler etc...

RickM 01-12-2005 10:39 AM

Anybody doing a 3.2 turbo conversion these days? If so please let us know how you're doing.

Lukesportsman 01-12-2005 05:35 PM

I still think this is a great alternative to the 3.6 swap. Different, obviously so, but still results in an exciting ride. Are our early cars worth it? But beating a 996/7 or Z06 with a long hood is priceless.

WydRyd 01-12-2005 11:29 PM

Luke, not so easy with the earlier cars because of the MFI.

Much easier as a bolt-on upgrade with the DME equipped 3.2's and a plug-in Chip ;)

Nothing quite like a 400HP+ light-weight 911 on-boost :D
