If anyone is interested in the Racedeck tiles, I was just at the SEMA show in Vegas and they are giving a discount price there. Believe that its $2.50 a sq ft for people at the show.

Asked if I had to purchase there and they said to call them the next week at the factory in SLC and they would honor the pricing.

Has anyone out there used VCT in a cold climate? Do you think it would hold up if it sat uninterupted with my car parked on it for the winter? Or do you think it would crack, lift, etc. upon freezing? Any thoughts?

Great post! No worried on the VCT an cold weather. I've checked this out quite a bit and did a lot of research on other forums. Will be doing mine soon. Anyone else have pics of their VCT?

I went with Sherwin Williams High Solids Epoxy Paint for my floor.
I've seen it mentioned on here, and alot of good reviews on web. 4L of hardener and 4L of epoxy (tinted any colour you want) was like $135cdn inc tax.
Just finished putting it on like a month ago, so we'll see how it stands up. The 8L total did 2 coats on entire floor, plus all the 1x4 baseboards, and there is still probably 1L of epoxy and 1L of hardener left for touchups later.

Can see some shots of my $500cdn '66 beater project :P

I had the coin pattern, and did not like it al all - was difficult to roll things over and difficult to clean. I considered VCT but was not sure about their resistance to fuel and chemicals (i.e. paint thinners and regular fuel) and finally got me an epoxy coat, at Costco, for about $110 - which makes my garage look like a showroom.

Its extremely easy to clean, did not cause any issue with the door and looks great with the work-lights on. I have it for 2 years now, and it is still looking good. I guess I will need to renew it in 3 years - but not a big deal.

By the way, you can always go the VCT way if you are unhappy with the result :-)

old reply.....

it's holding up pretty good, altho I'm surprised how easy this stuff stains. I purposely chose a fairly light colour to help find bolts/washers...etc.. and to brighten up the garage, but if you leave any oil/automotive fluids pooled, it will stain a light colour like I used.

Lately I am really abusing the floor tho. Welding/grinding sparks/sandblasting ...etc...etc....

Once I've finished all the major work, I'm going to give the epoxy a good scuff/clean and give it another coat.

I don't think any of the epoxy has peeled off, but I have chipped a couple small chunks out of the concrete.

1. Jet wash it down every now an again.
2. Cover turf with a made to measure tarpaulin that can be rolled up when using the sim
3. Don't bother with gym mats and just use artificial turf that can be rolled up. Is there a a need for a base layer? (need to send back to amazon if that's the case)
4. Use a tarpaulin to cover base mats and roll the turf up.

apart from no.1 all the other options require a bit of time to set up and take down.

Interested to see what others have done where their sim doubles up as a car garage.
I pull a full racing sim in my house on wood floors... put heavy-duty rubber mats down first, and no damage whatsoever.
