idle adjust

I just got done installing a Steve Wong chip in my car. The instructions say to jumper testport terminals b and c, and adjust the idle. Jumpering the terminals didn't seem to have any effect on the rpm. I had to turn the idle screw all the way clockwise to bring the rpms down to ~1k. That doens't seem right. Any ideas?

BTW, I noticed improved throttle response and a little more low-mid power. That 3.2 low end hesitation is totally gone

Can't say much about what this has to do with the wong chip, as mine is stock, but the symptoms you describe while adjusting the idle were similar when I adjusted mine....

Shorting the terminals didn't make a difference in the idle, and I had to turn quite a bit to get the RPM's to change.

Your idle microswitch may not be activating. Its the plug by the throttle body that has a two pin connector on it. Use a test meter to check that it activates closed when the throttle is closed. If not working, the switch may either need to be adjusted or the linkage may be too tight. When the switch does not activate, the computer will think it is in part throttle mode, and want to idle up at 1500-1700 rpm.

Thumbs up

The idle was unsteady about 1,100-1,200 rpm. I cranked the screw ~ 3 turns, which brought the idle down to 1,000. Somehow it seems the idle isn't as smooth as before? However, there is a noticeable increase in performance.

I'll check the microswitch. The linkage may need slight adjustment since it was uninstalled for my clutch project.

Thanks, jt
