Nitpicking here, but this special road is best travelled south >>> north.

I drove a lot of the PCH in late May when I bought an E12 in Berkeley and drove it to Washington, and that stretch was hands-down my favorite. A Pelican from the Bay Area was very helpful in giving me beta for my trip, and the night before he’d recommended that I cut my day short sooner rather than later, and I’m glad I did. I spent the night in Ft. Bragg and did the stretch in the morning. If I’d have done it late the night before I wouldn’t have been able to appreciate it.

This was also recommended to me but we just didn’t have time to detour down that way. Next time!!

US 212 between Red Lodge, MT and Yellowstone aka Beartooth Highway. It's only open from Memorial Day through mid-September but the 68 miles from Red Lodge to the Yellowstone park entrance is epic.
