With only a handful of nice driving days left before Winter sets in for some of us, lets revive this thread and share some more scenic routes!
One of my favorites in Connecticut is Valley Forge Rd North to Route 53 (Newtown Turnpike) around Saugatuck Reservoir, lots of nice sweepers, elevation change, and scenic view points along the water. |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1602621844.png Highway 154 from Santa Barbara to Los Olivos by Lake Cachuma. Twisties, an arch bridge, and lake views. Little traffic if you time it right. |
East- Corridor H through WV, fall of course
West- Wolf Creek Pass, CO- Late summer, early "fall" |

Wine country, Santa Barbara!!

Highway 3 from Weaverville to Yreka is a beautiful drive with straights and very curvy roads to the summit. Also 36 but it is closed while they are still fighting fires.

Jeep driver was at Big Sur , Young guy...."looked like fun"he said. |
Not particularly challenging, but I always enjoy U.S. Hwy 60 between Springerville, AZ and Socorro, NM. Make sure you stop at the Nat'l. Radio Astronomy Observatory along the way. Also, in Colorado, try U.S. Hwy 160 and CO. Hwy 149 (S to N) from Pagosa Springs to Gunnison.

Hurricane Ridge Road, Olympic Nat. Park.
17 mile climb from Port Angeles to Visiter Center up top at 5200' Start early (no touristas), park at the top. take a hike, enjoy the view, cruise back down around lunchtime for seafood in PA.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1602725519.jpg |
Depends on the time of year but around now, with folks typically back in the city, the run from Sechelt, BC to Egmont, BC is hard to beat. Its a second gear run most of the way and winds through some amazing views.
The run from Whistler north across the Duffy Lake road is stunning in late summer and Fall too. |
The Natchez Trace Parkway, much like the Blue Ridge, is patrolled and tickets are similarly hefty. But not far from Nashville TN there are quite a few surrounding roads (Hwy 46, the Old Trace, McCrory Road, River Road, Hwy 49) that are pretty spectacular.

For you south east guys.
My favorite has become " the Devils Whip". NC 80 about 30 miles east of Asheville. Less well known and less traffic than the "Tail of The Dragon". The altitude change adds an element of fun to the curves. Nothing like an exhilarating run UP the hill to the Blue Ridge Parkway for me then a nice relaxing cruise on the Parkway for the wife. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603292327.jpg |

It's gone now, but Skagway to Beaver Creek used to be dirt and gravel, for ~350 miles. Now it's paved and just not the same.
Highway 14, the backway from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. As others have mentioned, big fan of SW Colorado. And... First time I drove from Mt Robson just north of Jasper down to Banff, is a day I hope to never forget. |

I love hill climb. I love to either start at Pescadero or at San Gregorio and bomb up the hill to Alice’s. There often tourists in the way that ruin the drive so I try to start at O dark. Only problem are deer. A fawn leaped across in front of me last Sunday. Speaking of wildlife, I have seen turkeys, tule elk, deer, coyotes, and a couple of weeks ago a bobcat! I took out a few squirrels who were being squirrelly. I’m thinking of adding squirrel decals on the front fender to indicate how many I have struck. CA Hwy 25 at 198 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603934706.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603934706.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603935139.jpg |
In CT, Rt.7 up past Lime Rock into the Berkshires, looping back down old Route 8 to Norfolk, down 272. Nice 100 mile loop from my house with killer roads that can usually be tackled at a grueling pace during an "off" time of day
