Hey Bob...
Feeling really nostalgic? Do you want to part with that very modern gorgeous 911 and opt for a restored 1973.5T? Bruce Anderson tells me in the latest Excellence the 73's are climbing in price, so no telling where they would go a few years from now. My sunroof coupe, with just about everything rebuilt or replaced including the cold AC sure would look nice in those California hills!

Personnally, I want something on the other end of the spectrum; a more modern 911.

Wanna trade Bob?

Bob

where are the "pristine G50 cars for low $20s"? I always hear talk about these mythical cars but rarely see them. Invariably there might be ads saying they are that, but in person they aren't.

I think this is a $20K car. I've seen it in person. ymmv.

my 88 coupe (blk/blk) with 69k is overall the cleanest 3.2 ive ever seen- they've got an 800 mile speedster (89) in the Hollywood Park Casino lobby as a prize or whatever and it doesn't look a drop better than my car- condition-wise that is-
i get offers here and there from p guys for mid 20's, 23-26range-- i think this sc which is beautiful should go for17-20- good luck but unless you need the cash id keep it.

Thanks for the offer, Bob
But I'll be in dream mode for awhile if this one leaves.

Maybe in So. CA but not here. I bought my 93 C2, perfectly maintained with 35,000 miles for $26K (out of Tulsa), bought a 91 with similar miles and condition for $20K out of Atlanta 3 months earlier. I am always looking, and I have seen MANY excellent G50 Carreras for well under $25K, and have yet to see ANY SC go for $20K.. but again, it's a lovely car and I wish him the best selling it..

Oh, and I paid $11K for my 78 which has a newly rebuilt 915 and a bottom up engine rebuild. It was and is at least as solid as Bob's, though the paint needed to be redone.. got it here in CT and I have been DE'ng it constanly ever since...

Remember, the Subject is "Price Check, My 911 SC", not So. CA price check...

Valuation depends on the reason....if your going thru a divorce and you want the 911 on your side property settlement ledger, I'd say $6,500 tops

Seriously....beautiful car.

As to the G50 Carrera's, I found an 87 3 years ago with 100K miles, that has made a wonderful daily driver (i.e., wear on the driver's bolster, minor paint fading on top that waxed out nicely, etc) for $15K. So they are out there, just have to hunt for them as I found this one in N. Ga.

I've got an identical car, only mine has 31k miles. My mechanic was giving it the 30k mile maintenence when another customer of his offered me $28k. That was about a year ago. I haven't been keeping track of prices for the G50 Carreras lately, are they increasing at all?

I think that SC could bring close to $20k if the seller is patient.

first of all mark, put up a pic of your car! please!
second, it does make huge differeneces where you are located- here in LA things go for more- fact. most of the cars have not been driven in snow ever and rain rarely even if a daily driver as we don't get more than 10-15 days of rain ever to go with our 75 average temp and 0% humidity

note that when NOT selling to enthusiasts, a good finish, at least maintained, goes a long way-

so guys- put in an hour twice a month or 5-10 minutes every few days and keep it sharp- cycle paint, interior, tires/wheels, trim etc- i cycle my car's detailing and it always looks showroom (even as a black car!)---- people can't believe when i tell them she's 18 years old--
average joes pay for the looks as much as the history, if not more on the looks- especially in LA-

Last year there was a thread saying cars in So Cal went for a lot less then the rest of the country, and I asked the same questions people here are asking. Where are the sub 20k beautiful g-50 carreras with miles<90k that people said existed in So Cal ?

Bob your car is stunning I hope you keep it. In the event you dont my 2 cents says 15 to 17k.

There are some good deals out here at times cause there are just so many p cars. If there are guys out there that are onto a particular car or are truly serious I am totally down to "shop" for you totally free- Again, if you are really going to buy one I will help ya find one out here/take a look at a car for you and potentially have my P Car dealership buddy (works with me at his place for major discount) do a PPI- just for the love of Porsche-

Awesome car. For a data point, I paid 20k for my '84 (blk on blk) with 44k on the clock. Its like a new car. Stock except for radio, exhaust, and short shift kit. I think I paid a pretty fair price.

Here are a couple of photos. We get very little rain in Phoenix (just set a record for 144 days without rain), and even less snow.

Well - three years ago I bought a 48,000 mile 1987 G-50 cabriolet - original paint and top for $19k - so I guess it's possible. Likely - no - impossible? no again...

I think 911's in general, SC's and Carreras are a bargain when you compair their costs over any other Classic cars / Street Rod's / Harley's/ etc. They have a higher leavel of build quality than most other cars of their era also.
They are more useful and drivable than most other toys.
Like the old Porshe ads used to say "Take it to the track on Sunday and to work on Monday".

Feeling generous eh? With a ~280hp 3.4 I would expect a little more...

- back on topic - someone needs to buy Bob's car - I'm suprised its not gone already.
