Hi All
Looking for an elevator to put into the garage. Not a typical lift as I want access to either car at all times. So the "lift" would have to descend into the basement as well as moving upwards. Any ideas / contacts ? Hopefully this isn't too 007 for 2007. I mean we can go into space, so surely I can get my car into the basement ! thanks

I'm sure you can too. I can't see being able to move either car w/o moving the other unless you have a two car (one over the over) platform. In this case, you could probably start with a heavy duty 4 post lift sitting in the basement. Mordern elevators work on cables or a hydraulic ram. In order to support 2 cars, the ram would have to be very stout. I think a custom 4 post lift with bigger cables, etc. is the answer. Some serious cutomizing, or contruction fom scartch will be necessary as you probably won't be able to operate the safety catches except by remote.
Sounds like a great project and I'd bet there are some potential customers. It's a two story lift in a 3 story building. The ram would work, too, so get a bid from the local elevator company, but expect a price of 100K. It was a long time ago that I worked for an elevator company for a short spell. Missed a great career due my lack of foresight. |

thanks for the link tony
milt, you made my heart sink with the 100k remark. I was hoping 50k would do it for me. I am not giving up though.
