The black RS America owner just got it out of the paint shop for some small stone chips. He has a independant Porsche repair shop as well and they knew each other!
The blue targa owner was over his head since he drifted so wide into the other lane on those blind turns. Had there been no cars (and a very short time later bicycles < THANK GOD the RS was first) he would have been ok. He readily admitted his fault AND more importantly, no one was hurt. So, the RS had to go over the line going up the hill and his right side smacked the right side of the targa. Both cars had to be towed It's one thing to drift out SLIGHTLY when you have a VERY clear view of the road ahead. Its NOT when you are gambling on it being open when you can't. Lives are certainly at risk

I saw another CHP who had pulled over a beat up Ford Escort. I wonder what for, for speeding?

No! For bad taste in driving a car like that . Especially when all the other pretty cars were zooming around

I don't understand the details of the incident with the RS America. I saw that car on the side of the road and remarked that it looked nice. I kept going even though everyone was stopping because nothing appeared to be wrong. What happened?
Also, was that a real 427 Cobra in the bare aluminum finish?

I got a chance to talk with Rob, the aluminum Cobra owner. It's a no-expense spared Kirkham replica... well, sort of replica. It's as close to the real thing as you can get. The Kirkham aluminum body is the same one used by Shelby for their new Cobras. Rob's even has an aluminum 427 side-oiler in there. If you look in one of my previous posts, you can see the picture of the cobra in my side-rear view mirror. That was on the up-Stunt-down-Piuma section. What a blast to have that in your rear view while your carving up the canyon! My favorite part of the day.

A couple outfits do Cobra replicas in aluminum (and you can 'register' the Shelby continuation cars with the Shelby club). Hard to know if it was original or new. Awesome car, either way. Aluminum replicas are not cheap, BTW.

Here are two drive-by shots of the blue Targa. Taken by the passenger of course.

Well, even though I didn't have the P-car finished in time, I'm glad I got up early and attended. The 540I was surprisingly capable. Lots of horsies and torque. Could use more tire, though. Kudos to Dave for putting this together again, this year. I enjoy it every time and think I've introduced another to the crowd. Even though he's a 996 water cooled guy! Chad

Hey, does anyone know how to get a hold of the guy with the orange Mustang Cobra? He has some video that I would like to get a copy of.
