I was up until 3:20 AM cleaning my house after an impromptu New Year's party with some close friends and neighbors... I never made the run (but I did hit PCH in the Porsche around noon with my son - I could have sworn I saw BBII on Malibu Canyon road heading towards the 101).
I would have loved to see an Atom in person - and a Vector! Wow! Some beautiful Porsches out there today. Next year, I throw the neighbors out at 9:00 PM and go to bed. Apparently, it was worth it!

2007 was my first New Years Day So Cal Run. I had a great time and had lots of fun seeing what my 74 RSR Clone could do before she goes on the market. I ran up in front with the "Big Winged" 914, and Jason Cullen's "Mean Green" 930 during the 1st stage.
The second stage I enjoyed briefly running with a new black 997 Twin Turbo. A gorgeous car with all the new technical advancements. Once the road opened a little, I was able to pass a carrera and see if I could keep up with the new turbo. When we got to PCH, I got a smile and a head nod from the driver of the new black twin Turbo. I sure would like to get is input and thoughts. Sorry I could not finish the run to Dukes...but I'm getting married in 3 weeks and still have a few things to take care of. Next year I plan to bring my early car Silver 70 911. My speeds will be lower and I'll have more fun in the twisties. Again, thank you all for a great start to my year. Paul.

My name is Derek. We spoke very briefly when you showed at 2nd stage. Your car is as stunning in person as it is in pictures. If you go through with your plans, make sure it gets a good home (hopefully staying in the area so we can see it again).

Who is the genius that put the tires reversed on that silver Lotus? He will be very sorry when he hits a puddle at speed...

Thanks to all that participated this year. We had a great time and despite one incident, it was a trouble free run . Even when the whole "peloton" blew by a CHP sitting facing us on Mul. Highway- JEEZ !!!- I just about lost my breakfast. He just threw his hands up in the air as if to say "WTF !?!?- we mellowed out for a while after that
Amazing variety of cars and people- Wahoo!

"rexav8r",
Thank you for the compliment on my 74 RSR Clone. Not sure yet on selling price. I will be putting a thread/feeler for market value on the forum. "lfot"/Derek, Your compliments are greatly appreciated. I enjoyed our converstation and hope to send the car to a good home as I did with my 83 Euro SC, which I see every year at the German Auto Fest. BTW...Jay's "ATOM" was quick thru the twisties. Looking forward to the next run...hopefully real soon. Paul

Thanks Dave for getting this started. Glad everyone made it home safely.
I had a great run and enjoyed the roads despite the hundreds of cars! Unfortunately, I cut the run short at the end of Latigo due to a clogged idle circuit that resulted in obnoxious backfiring (a fellow driver wondered if I had a turbo with an anti-lag system or something!). I apologize to anyone who was stuck within earshot! Fortunately, it's all better now and the car once again is running flawlessly. Can't wait until the next one... David PS Thanks to all for the great pictures. There is usually too much to see at one time so the variety of pictures really makes it great! |

Yes, thanks much Dave.
This was my first run, and I had a total blast. Just wondering though, anyone know the final toll of the, uhmmm... incident? I was there right after it happened and everyone seemed to be ok. Any news?
