New Garage Floor
I spent Saturday AM laying a new covering on the garage floor. Most of the work was emtying the stuff in the garage.
Just wanted to share some pics of the 911. The floor seems to compliment it well. Almost feels like I'm in a dealership. I bet epoxy, tiles or any other convering adds the same "new" feeling.

I got the stuff from my work. They needed someone to install it, test it and take pictures of it for resale in our catalog. I'm the biggest "car guy" in the office so the hardship of having to test the stuff fell on my lap. |

Looks nice. I am getting tired of repainting my concrete garage floor. Looking for advice.

Looks great. I'm wondering how well a floor jack would work on it. For example: When you use the side jack points the floor jack needs to move towards the car as you lift. Would the jack rollers cause the flooring to buckle? I'm also guessing the best way to protect the flooring from jack stands is to place the stands on 3/4 inch plywood bases.

I noticed that stuff at Costco yesterday. I figured it would be $1200 to do my floor so I passed.

I just bought a boat load of this stuff for my garage floor -
http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Solid-Garage-Floor-Tile-p/hthdt.htm The feature it on ebay and will honor ebay pricing from time to time. I'll take some pictures once installed:

So, my floor has, right now, a bunch of spilled oil from my Ninja, and oh yea...the tank valve sprung a leak, so theres a half galoon of gas on it, and a couple pounds of kitty litter to soak it all up.
I have the .69 cent tiles on it. .....and they are ok. I wonder how embossed floors with glossy surfaces, like the beauties in this thread would stand up to the normal conditions in my shop?? I nearly went for something upscale like this, but with all the spilling, jacking, and welding that goes on, I thought having easily removed sections, and cheap initial investmet was the way to go. These sure look nice though.

It looks nice!
Have you parked the car on it after a hard drive - when the tires are hot? Regardless, you can always let the tires cool off outside... |

Only odd thing is I attached the flooring with some ultra crazy agressive double sided tape along the edges. When the sun hits the floor at the front of the garage the PVC expands creating some small waves. Close the garage and let cool and it is shortly smooth again. I'm sure a more traditional troweled on glue would hold it more evenly/securely. I also now have this need to constantly sweep the garage but I think any flooring material would have done that. The material cuts fairly easy but the center seam was the most difficult part. The sample material I used arrived slightly banged up on the edges so they needed to be trimmed thus losing their sharp edge. The seam still isn't that bad but I'll have to see what it does over time.

I need that stuff made out of a magnetic material, seems like any small item I drop rolls away into another universe.

The plastic tiles look nice, but I too would like to know how they actually hold up to spills, jacks and stands, etc. I will probably redo mine next year with an industrial epoxy, but I hate to give up the checkerboard pattern I have now. BTW - looks good Matt
