89 Copue,.do you guys experience this?
Greetings to all,
I've an 89 911 Coupe who's rear bumper pieces are pulling away from the bumper...I would assume this is a cummulative heat sourced issue> ? Looks like I'l be changing these out in the very near future. Looks pretty simple..?.. Thanks guys, Best, Pics below: ![]() ![]() ![]()

There is a small rubber "plug" which covers a small phillips head screw that you can tighten to draw the rubber up tight against the bumper. Give that a shot as it looks like it is pulling away around the scew.

Thanks,..I'll look for this "small" philips head screw you speak of.....although I've not much faith in some small screw pulling all of these gaps tight (I do hope that's all it is...) I assumed it to be from all of the heat generated over the years..
In any case,..I'll take a look and report back. Thanks for your input. Best,

Yeah, I suspect you'll be replacing them, and yes, it's easy.

From the picture its appears that the rubber has disengaded from its holders. There are slots in the back of the rubber that engage little brackets, maybe 5or6 acrossthe bumper. Sometimes you can encourage the rubber back on the clips or unscrew the clip, put the rubber back on the clips and screw the clips back on the bumper. This problem occurs when the rubber get old and shrinks and pulls away from the clips or some one bumps your bumper slightly crushing the rubber and alowing the rubber to pop out of the clips. What ever it is its an easy fix.

Yup, that happened to me but the parts were rusting. There is metal between the rubber and as the rubber ages and cracks water gets in there. Check yours because they may be rusting as well. I hope not...

I will check for this,...heading off to study the parts breakdown diagram tonight....I did see a type of cover (very small diameter) on the rubber piece (visually) ..maybe sonething lurks beneath (philips?) anywaze,.. to study the breakdown. I truly think I'm dealing with rubber contraction (of sorts) that will require complete replacement. I'll drop a line with any encountered difficulties along the way,..thanx much guys!!
Best,

Mine is doing the same thing ... I have bigger fish to fry for the time, but I'm curious how your repair goes for next year's projects!
