Are you sure that's correct? On mine, the small flap covers the windshield washer fluid filler cap. If you turned it around, wouldn't the small flap interfere with the hinge every time you close the fuel door?
Steve, why not go flapless and save the weight? ![]() Brian |

not too sure about it being useless here in Jersey, where we are prohibited by law from touching the pumps or hoses. Most attendants use the fender as a heel rest for the nozzle, and the flap prevents chips, especially when they decide to rest a spell and lean on the the nozzle while you take a wiz. granted, the law is seldom enforced, but they always get first crack at the insertion.

no, the flaps lay flat over the fender when folded out. The small flap folds out toward the windshield, and lays flat on top of the fender. The large flap folds out and down. It protects the fender against the metal fuel filler, as stated by Mo. To work well, the canvas/ rubber flaps need to be soft and pliable. When they become hard and curled, they won't fold out and lay flat - and won't work to protect the paint. I have a nice custom paint color, so I appreciate having the fuel flaps.

Ahem...maybe small flap toward the latch, right... ??? Small flap "hinge point" faces front of car?
Yeah...the flap protects more against scratches than is does to protect from fuel staining, as formerly Steve suggests.

Hi all,
Having the same issue with fitting the fuel flap to my car. I know the large flap opens toward the bottom of the car. Not sure which direction the small flap should be opening towards. Should the small flap be on the left, or right? Opening toward the hinge, or the catch (windscreen direction). There is a small hole in the flap too. Not sure what this is for. I've seen so many cars with it fitted both ways, so not sure what is correct. |

Also, should the flap be pushed down toward the bottom of the fuel filler neck, or kept right as the top, just below the opening.

I put mine like in the second picture. The hole is there for draining the gas.

I would think the 2nd picture is more correct to prevent fuel splash onto the soft plastic of the washer fluid cap, it might deteriorate the cap prematurely?

I've had the 911 for 28 years and never used it. Darn, I've been missing out.
When I replaced the fender I put a new one on just to be correct. The hole was a bit small but I just forced it on. |
