"Single" carb 73T
I've seen lots of mods on the early induction systems, but never one like this:
Does anyone have any idea what kind of carb this might be and what kind of "performance" is the result of this modifiction? ![]()

I have actually seen setups like this for sale at Hershey. Pretty simple, chop off the top of the airbox, fab a plate and mount the carb. That looks like a Carter AFB with an electric choke, but it is hard to tell from the photo. Typical American four-barrel. Probably not the optimum in flow, but it will work.

Could be an aftermarket induction system for a Corvair. In addition to a Carter, some also used a Rochester Quadrajet. Throttle response may be lacking due to the distance from carb to intake valve. Should be fine for steady-state cruising if no other issues.
All here would suggest a PPI to make sure there aren't any hidden issues and surprises. Sherwood |

Interesting, thanks guys. I didn't realize anyone offered this kind of aftermarket induction. I guess the cost of repair of CIS or MFI systems moves some to this alternative. From what you've said, I would assume restoring to stock wouldn't be hard, if one had the parts.
