Any pictures of Tool Sets

Anyone know if there are color pictures available anywhere of what tools should be in our Porsche's tool kits.

I would like to find out what tools should be in the set for my 83SC, the ones in there right now are Grey, Gold and black (not dirty )and if I have the right one I could clean them up and send the off to the platers.

Thanks

I seem to remember a picture being posted in the past. Try searching this forum for Factory tool kit and see if you can find it.

Not sure but i HIGHLY recommend picking up a 13mm ratcheting wrench for the hard to get to bolt in the back right of the AC compressor. A regular ratchet wont work, too big to fit. This will come in handy if you need to change your fan belt if it breaks at the most inconvinient time. You will be able to move the ac compressor without hassel. In the winter this doesnt matter as much, because you can just cut the ac belt and toss it on the side of the road, replace it later. But in the summer, its nice to keep the ac going after a belt change.

I posted this pic a few months ago, due to a similar request. I don't know if my kit is complete, or the same as what would be found in an '83. My car is an '87. But all tools are stamped with "Germany" or "Klein," with the exception of either the crescent wrench or pliers (can't remember which one, but it's stamped with "Japan") which was added by one of the POs along the way.

Why not just go to the PET for your year. It specifies contents in detail...

Ditto PET. Never was a crescent wrench although it's a good idea. Never was a corkscrew either. . .

When my battery boiled over this summer I had to remove all of the tools, clean, etc...

Does anyone have a pic of how they're supposed to go back inside?

This should do it... no crescent, and the screwdriver handle on at least early SC's are yellow. Red on earlier (longhood, I'm pretty sure) cars.

Sorry I couldn't get the diagram to show on the email, click it, it's a great source.

My '73 does not have that tool but it may be an allen wrench with a rubber cup at the end to remove and hold the lower bolt from the battery holddown.

If you have the owners manual for your car (as I am sure we all do ), there is a picture of the tools included in the car.

That tool wasn't in the kits until the 3.2 cars and they started using allen bolts to clamp down the battery.
I don't recall the sunroof using an allen
Here is a picture of a completely original kit from an 81 SC including the tools in their original place. . head.

No, that's not the tool for manually cranking the sunroof. It's for removing and holding the bolt for the battery clamp.

Here you can see my '85 toolkit which is definitely complete.

The tool third from the left at the top is the one for manually cranking the sunroof.

And the original tire inflator.

There's also the jack and a plastic bag (to put your punched tire in) and some latex gloves.

Kees.

HI rusnak
the allan key is for removing the battery on a 911 SC, as it has a large battery and a allan key holding the battery clamp, (also in the 928), there should also be a short peice of tube to slide over the alan key to loosen the battery clamp, that kit is also missing a 10mm alan key for the plug socket, fan belt, small packet of fuses, speed wrench for the electric seat, for manual seat adjustment if the motor fails, towing eye,sun roof handle (if applicable), (the adjustables would not be in there)

the handle is to be removed off the driver and fitted to the end of the speed wrench for the seat adjustment.

regards mike

That's the sunroof crank on the clear plastic on the right, by the latex gloves.

Kees,

Looking at the right side of your photo, what is the tool with a spring on it?

Thanks,

Tom

Rod goes into the spark plug wrench at right angle to turn it, I think. Have an Owner's manual?

My '84 owners manual only describes where the tool kit is located, and that some countries required additional tools, that's it.

My spark plug wrench has a hex fitting for an allen wrench. That rod looks like it's cylindrical or tubular.
