Anyone using Manta exhaust?

Seems like a kinda' fun, reasonably low-cost setup. Intended for '74s too which is nice - AND made right here in Long Beach.

Anyone running one? What do you think of it? Build quality?

Had one on my '73.5. Nice sound, but rusted sooner than stock. Not a prob after I stopped daily driving it.

Had a 2.7 CIS in it...

I have an Ansa, nice sound but I hear you lose ~5 hp.

I didn't know they were made here! I had one that came with the '71 s and it sounded good. But, it's heavy and doesn't produce HP for an MFI car. Might be OK for a 2.7 CIS, you never know. Basically all they did was incorporate x pipe design.

You WILL have to get used to the Ferrari four pipes.

Heh heh. The research I did tells me they're made by a place called TriMil Industries here in the LBC on Paramount. Check this link (ironically the business search service is also called "Manta" - how totally cosmic, dude).

I want something that'll sound. . . well. . . "uncivilized". You know. Like a 911 should sound.

I'm not concerned about a horsepower or two - this isn't a track car or a uber-performance project where I'm counting 1/100ths of a HP and ounces of weight. It's a mid 70s restoration project that's supposed to look like a 70s Porsche.

My stock muffler sounds pretty good but is rusty, so it has to go. I won't tolerate rust in any form as I continue to restore this thing. A Dansk with trumpets might be kinda' b1tchin' too I'm thinking, but the Manta caught my eye just because it looks like it'd be. . . fun. And raw. And really, really loud if I want it to be.

I have to admit though, it doesn't really look all that engineered. Someone just got some pipes and run-of-the-mill mufflers, did some cutting, pipe bending and welding and that's what you get as an end-product. I imagine they sound pretty cool though.

Maybe get 'em and slap them on just to see? Whaddya' think?

Or should I just get a Dansk with trumpets aimed at face level of SUVs following entrail.

Hey what type is your Ansa, I have their exhaust on my diesel. Lookin for sumthin for my 911SC

we ran tri-mils off road. only brand that would last being beat to death. numero uno on quality. after exhaustive searching for my 87............im going w/GHL complete system w/heater boxes.

GHL is ridiculously expensive and to my knowledge does not make products for '74 cars. Therefore I haven't even considered them.

I've got an Ansa/Manta 4 pipe muffler in good, used condition for sale if anyone wants it. Came with my 71, so I assume it fits all 65-73 cars...

I tried one on for size, but experienced a noticeable loss of power. I would advise against it.
I currently run a M&K 2 in/2 out and like it, but for low cost, great sound and power, I would go with a Bursch, I wish I had never sold mine.
