svb,
Have you confirmed that is the case with this car? There has been talk that 9's were used on some. I 'assume' his car has the 10" flairs & rim. Was hoping to confirm and see if they have gone to 225s up front or not. Also wonder if it has the Dunlock (sp) tires? Thx.

Great car and a great read in Excellence. Our tax and customs systems must be baffling to other members. Only in Canada!

911st
My car has Ruf Speedline wheels; front are 8x17, rear are 10x17. Interestingly, the front wheels weigh 29lbs. and the rear wheels 28lbs. When I bought the car in 2005 it had Dunlop SP Sport 8000 tires; 205/50ZR17(front) 255/40ZR17 (rear). I don't think the Denloc tires are currently available. In May this year, I replaced the Dunlops with Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 tires; 215/45ZR17 (front) and 255/40ZR17 (rear). I haven't got many kilometers on them yet but I think they have very good wet and dry traction and were very competitively priced. The old Dunlops were 5 years old and although they had only 7000 miles on them, they were starting to age. Funny enough, the Ruf test driver had no hesitation to take me on a top speed run on the autobahn in May 2006 with the Dunlops fitted. We achieved 350 km/h with no problems! Paulo |

Jim G. has posted some good images of the CTR when I went to the Watkins Glen Historics. That was a great weekend, particularly riding with Steve Beddor in his CTR2 Sport through the streets of the town during the old race reenactment on Friday evening.
I have attached a photo of the VIN plate for my car, probably the only part not captured by Jim! Paulo

Paulo,
I know you are set but I love my Dunlop Star Spec's. Get sticky fast, very little noise on the track, look great, and great brake away characteristics like when drifting. Thanks again for sharing.

Great read. Beautiful car. Certainly had empathy for you as your car didn't start initially after the long wait....who hasn't been there before! That is a car as cool as it is rare.

Are those H4 headlights (or H1)? I never seen Hella branded lenses for h4s, only Bosch.

Since its a known fact that you cant take it with you; may I be first in line to be the recipient of your RUF CTR, in order to assure your cars care and fantastic lineage?
I'd be forever grateful!

Many thanks again guys, for all your kind comments about my Excellence story and the CTR.
m110: The headlight units are H4, the Ruf guys asked me if I wanted the more curved headlight glass that flows with the top fender line, so they fitted what they call "beetle" glass. It has a negative impact on front end lighting. nine9six: I'm afraid my 20-year old daughter has first dibs on the CTR. She was first hooked after being given a ride in Yellowbird when we visited the Ruf factory in 2003..., 300 km/h on the secondary roads around the factory. She was thrilled and I was wondering if I had done the right thing by strapping my only child into the passenger's seat with the very talented H.-P. Lieb driving. A great day for father and daughter. Little did I know that a CTR would be in my garage 3 years later. Paulo |
